Could someone please look at the Willoughby Parish Register and check the Marriage record for:
24 April 1809 Jeremiah Tomalin and Ann Shaw.

I have it from an Ancestry search, but image is too feint to read the Parish of Jeremiah - looks like BILSON and the inserted word immediately thereafter.

Then, taking the Groom's Parish, can you see if his possible baptism date is there. I estimate this is 1772 from later Census records.- if its not too much trouble please?

Thanks, Eric

I am searching the census returns for Thomas Fisher. he was born in Wakefield about 1843
I know from his children's birth and marriage certificates that his wife is Mary Rowland, who was born in Ardsley about 1843.
I can find them in the 1891 Census for Alverthorpe with children JAne, (13) Rowland (5) and Willie (2).
I can link the 1891 census for Alverthorpe with the 1881 for Wakefield via Jane (2) and mother in law  Mary Rowland and dau Charlotte's Birth Cert. which I obtained. Older child Mary A (age 12) is shown born in Dewsbury (1869).
But I can't find the family in 1871 in any Dewsbury as I would expect, not in surrounding areas.

Can anyone find them in 1871 in this area please?
Can anyone find a marriage record for them I have not found other children earlier that Mary A (1869). so normally indicating married before that date -though might not have been married at all!
Then, once I get the link to the Dewsbury area, it will be even more fun, are there are dozens of Fisher families here abouts!

Many thanks,

After hunting around for the last week, to find the place to obtain this boxed CD set of records (for England), I have been advised by the UK Distribution Centre at Birmingham, that the item has been DISCONTINUED.
All the records are now on their searchable database which is accessed via the following link for those who don't know.

Good hunting

England / parent's age at birth.
« on: Tuesday 05 December 06 13:31 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have any info on 'usual' and 'unlikely' age range of fathers and mothers, at birth of their children please?
Example: (from parish records) Mother born 1765 appears to be giving birth to her children from 1798 to 1808. ie between her ages of 33 and 43 years. Is this likely in the mid 1700's? Most of my ancestors seem to have their children between age 20 and 30.
Any views? Thanks.

Yorkshire (West Riding) / pedigree query

Working back through one of my MALE lines, I get to a point in one maternal line where the male was registered without the name of a father. (ie just the mother's name on the Birth Certificate).
And the son just takes the mother's surname.
What are the strict Ancestoral rules for this situation -which of course has hapened many times before.
Do I consider that my Lineage continues back through the Mother's?
Eric.
