Lancashire / Birth and Death advice needed!
« on: Tuesday 13 January 09 09:17 GMT (UK)  »
I need help please! The 1911 census tells me that my great grandparents had one child deceased by date of the census. I have no living relative to ask, and my nana (now gone) thought she had been an only child, how do i find out more?

Is there some way to narrow things down? I am looking for a child born between 1901 and 1911, I have no name, no gender, no place of birth, the parents lived in Orrell in 1901 and bolton from at least 1910. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Cheers, Pippa

I am looking for information on Thomas Brown born c 1875, who I know was attending Victoria Wesleyan Methodist on Grecian Cresecent in 1910. I want to try and find out where he was living and what his job was. Any suggestions/advice would be wonderful. many thanks, Pippa

« on: Wednesday 13 February 08 13:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hello all,  I am looking for the burial place of Leslie Thomas Lees, who died aged 73 in 1956 , death registered in Amounderness? I believe that this is Preston? Also his wife Lilian Maud Lees. I want to order the death certs for both but don't know where to find the reference numbers. Does anyone have any idea of local cemeteries? I think they lived in Walton le Dale. Any info would be grand! Pip x

Lancashire / Can anyone find my Martha?
« on: Monday 03 September 07 15:29 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for Martha Dodgson (sometimes spelled Dodgeson and born 1861, West Riding) after 1871. I have her on census 1871 in Heaton Norris with her family but can't find her again. I can not find a marriage or a death either.

I also can't find her mother and one of her sisters after 1871.  In 1881 sister Sarah is Sarah Slater and sister Eliza is Eliza Blythe. I am also looking for Eliza and William Blythe after 1881. I need someone clever who can do some lateral thinking! many thanks, Pippa x

Lancashire / H Knupfer, jewellers. Salford.
« on: Tuesday 31 July 07 18:24 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone remember this jeweller? From 238 Regent Road? I found a teaspoon with H Knupfer and  the address on it. On the reverse there is a mark that says "Benares" and what looks like a fake hallmark with the letters JK in it. Anyone any ideas? Also, does anyone know anything about Ruckwood and Co LTD, Salford? I have an empty bottle that looks like it might have been lemonade or some such and I would like to know what it really was! I've tried googling and got nowhere. Thanks!

« on: Friday 26 January 07 16:19 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for details of John Wilson Lewis, born Salford 1887.  He died in November 1918 in France. I would like to know where he died and how but I don't know where to start really. i have a candidate on the CWGC site, Driver J Lewis.  I can't be certain that this is him. Any suggestions? Would a death cert tell me anything new?
