World War One / James Campbell Stevenson/ Royal Engineers
« on: Wednesday 13 March 19 19:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello you were great in finding my husbands great uncle Charles Stevenson Boer war and WW1 records, it was the right person.  The Chelsea pension card gave his address.

I am on again for more help regarding Charles younger brother  James Campbell Stevenson who is my husbands grandfather.   I have tried looking myself on ancestry with no luck.
We know he was in the Royal Engineers. 3 Lowland Field Company  and he was a sapper.  He was born in 1885 in Glasgow.  We think he was stationed in Sussex.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you

Armed Forces / Charles Stevenson/Boer War
« on: Wednesday 06 March 19 17:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I have received great help from this forum when doing my family tree.  I am now doing my husbands tree and I am hoping for some help tracing his Great uncles Boer war service.  We do know that Charles Stevenson was born in 1876 in Glasgow and he never married.  On the 1901 Census he is at home in Glasgow, also states he is a soldier can't make this bit out, but looks like RFA and that he was on furlough.  We also know for sure that he was at Ladysmith.  I know it's not a lot to go on, but any help or pointers would be very much appreciated.
Thank you

« on: Monday 25 February 19 19:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I am looking for some help.  I have been reading some posts and some of them I think may link to my ancestors.  It starts in Rye and moves to Hastings.  I have found a Frederick Breeds my GG  grandfather married Mary Anne Harman in 1860 Hastings,  Then Robert Breeds married Mary Hadden in 1819 Hastings,  Richard Breeds (born Rye),  married Mary Guy 1788 Hastings,  then I am stuck.  I have Joseph Breeds married to Susannah Mansfield,  I can't find any marriage or birth details for Joseph or Susannah.  They have a number of children born in Rye.  Any help or advice as where to look would be most appreciated.

Antrim / Weir-Sloan Ahoghill County Antrim
« on: Friday 25 January 19 11:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello I have received amazing help from you on my Irish family connections relating to the female side who were from Queens County.  Now I am seeking help for the male line who are from County Antrim.  So far I've managed to trace my g grandparents to Ahoghill in County Antrim.  They are William Weir and Martha Sloan.  They had twins David and William in 1865 who died the same year, William 1868 (my grandfather) and an unknown female 1870.  I couldn't find any births between 1850-1864 so I'm guessing they may have married before 1865.  I would love to find some way to find the names of my gg grandparents I have no idea of age or when they married.
Really would appreciate any help.

Thank you

Laois (Queens) / Ballyragget Parish Records - Delaney
« on: Wednesday 16 January 19 10:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I am looking for some help again, please.  The record is I think my great grandmothers baptism - name Eliza Delaney - Date 13/5/1850.  It's her mothers name I am trying to find out.  I think it is Franey.  I have found other records which could be siblings with different spellings of the name i.e. Freney, Fraynay.
The reason I need to check this is because according to her death certificate in Scotland her maiden name is Rennie and I can't find any connection to a Rennie in the records.  So I was wondering if it was possible that the Irish Franey etc could be mistaken for Rennie by the Scottish registrar.
I am not very good at explaining things so I hope this makes sense.
As this is the beginning of my family tree I would appreciate any help or pointers.
Thank you.

Laois (Queens) / Delaney-Condron of Crettyard
« on: Friday 09 November 18 10:47 GMT (UK)  »
Please can anyone help me.  I am trying to find the Irish connection in my family.  My late father used to talk about going on holiday to his grandparents farm in Crettyard as a boy (he was born in Scotland in 1908) and that his cousin was Pat Delaney (who was a footballer).  All I've got to go on is a marriage certificate for my grandparents who married in Scotland after leaving Ireland.  My grandmother was Elisa Condron and she married William Weir in 1901.  I think my great grandmother was Elisa Delaney who married a Condron.  I'm 69 now and I would love to pass on the Irish connection to my grandchildren so any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
