Devon / WOOD family of DEVON, pre-1640

I am interested in finding descendants of the WOOD family of Devon (poss. Withycombe Raleigh and nearby).
I have a working theory that John Wood of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, who was recorded in Newport in 1643, came from Devon.
Ideally, I would like to find direct male descendants who have done Y-DNA testing and compare test results!
