Northamptonshire / Hugh Lucy the elder Wollaston
« on: Tuesday 11 May 21 06:58 BST (UK)  »
Looking for information about Hugh Lucy the elder - may have been born 1588 in Milton Bryan Bedfordshire or any associated family. I believe he was the father of Hugh Lucy the Younger. Both died 1669 in Wollaston. I have a will for Hugh the Younger that references his father, Hugh the Elder. Hoping to find information about where Hugh the elder originated from, prove if he was the Bedfordshire one. They owned land in Wollaston and Hugh was a Gentleman Yeoman.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Thomas & Rose Pratt 1861 Census
« on: Friday 23 April 21 09:51 BST (UK)  »
I cannot find these two people on the 1861 Census, and cannot find a death for either between 1851 and 1861.

In 1851, they are in Wollaston, Northants. Thomas is listed as 48, a shoe manufacturer employing 30 men and 4 women, born Emberton, Bucks. His wife, Rose, aged 44, born Wellingborough. Their children, grown up, are still in or around Wollaston.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Looking for more information on Palmer Pratt b.abt 1777 and his parents Francis (a merchant?) and Esther, and the son of Palmer - Thomas - who married a lady called Rose, but I do not know her surname. They were all from Emberton.

Palmer was on the Posse Comitatus stemming from the Defence of the Realm Act of 1798. He then moved to Northamptonshire. He was a carpenter.

Any help appreciated

Rutland / Fox, Newcombe - shepherd's in Theddingworth at the Lodge
« on: Tuesday 13 April 21 18:17 BST (UK)  »
Interested if anyone has information on the above - Fox and Newcombe. These families were shepherds by occupation and lived at the Lodge at Theddingworth.

I'd be interested to know more about the Lodge and its history.

London and Middlesex / Jones and Evans - London
« on: Tuesday 13 April 21 18:14 BST (UK)  »
I have ancestors Thomase Jones and Hannah Evans.

Thomas ended up in Northampton and was a Tailor, but at one point in 1825 ran off to London. On most Census he puts London as his birth place, around 1800.

Hannah Evans again came to Northampton but lists London as her birth place, again around 1800. She married a man called John Mattson. I know one of the Mattson children went to live in London - Elizabeth, marrying a man called William Penn. Not sure if that helps if they lived with or close to relatives in London.

Perhaps not surprisingly, I have hit a dead end with each of these.

Bedfordshire / Jacob Eaton - Stevington
« on: Tuesday 13 April 21 18:09 BST (UK)  »
After any information, or connection anyone might have to Jacob Eaton, born Stevington around 1800.

I think he died in 1877 in Clapham, Beds, but need to verify this. If he did, there was an inquest into his death - how would I find out more?
