Roxburghshire / Ann Agnes Watson nee Duncan - No death record??
« on: Friday 05 April 24 20:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I've been trying to track down a death record for my 5x great-grandmother Ann Agnes Watson nee Duncan.  According to the family gravemarker at Jedburgh Abbey, she died in 1839 less than a year after her husband James Watson died in 1838.  Her marriage record said she and James were both from Cupar, Fife at the time of their marriage.

Their children's names were:

1. James b. 1802 in Cupar, Fife
2. John Rutherford (I think this is a deviation from the naming tradition as John is not a common name in later generations)  b. 1804 in Kelso, Roxburghshire
3. Margaret b. 1806 in Kelso, Roxburghshire died 1827 in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire
4. William b. 1809 in Kelso, Roxburgshire
5. Andrew b. 1813 in Kelso, Roxburghshire

The family moved to Jedburgh sometime between 1813 and 1821.

The existing belief is that her parents were Andrew Duncan and Anne Sivis, but there is no concrete proof, just speculation.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Am I Reading This Right?
« on: Tuesday 31 October 23 19:23 GMT (UK)  »
I was looking at the 1861 Cesus for my 4 x great-grandfather Andrew Watson when I saw another Watson family listed right below him.  The first name of the Head of household I think says Delay??  Does seem right to anyone else?

Roxburghshire / James Watson b. 1802 Cupar Fife - Occupation Question
« on: Monday 25 September 23 19:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm trying to figure out what James Watson's occupation is on the 1841 Census.  It is just listed as H. L. W. J.

Does anyone know what that might mean?

Roxburghshire / Jane CRUBBERS - Can't Find Anything on Surname!
« on: Friday 25 August 23 21:38 BST (UK)  »
I've got a massive mystery on my 5x great-grandmother, Jane Crubbers.  I just found her name on her son's death record.  His name was James Haig and his father was Edward Haig.  I had never heard that surname before so I went and did a search on Ancestry, Scotlands People and FindMyPast.

I only got one :o result for the surname on Ancestry and FindMyPast and it was for: Elizabeth Crubbers
in the Diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, England, Indexes of Wills and Probate, 1518-1858

There were 0 results on Scotlands People. :'(

How do I find the actual will listed in the Index? ??? I'm hoping that she might be related to my Jane Crubbers.

United States of America / Edward Bosco/Basco born in North Carolina
« on: Saturday 30 July 22 20:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find the mysterious Edward Basco.  I found him on the 1940 Census living with his parents Philip and Iva Bosco and his half-brother Milford and then living as a border in Maryland on the 1950 Census.  However, I can't find a North Caroline birth record or anything after 1950.

I really want to know if he got married or had children.

Thanks muches,
Roi-Bree

I wonder if anyone can make out Robert McDowell's (Father) occupation and the maiden name of Elizabeth McDowell (mother) on Susanna's birth record.  Many thanks in advance! :)

I'm wondering if someone can help me with transcribing/deciphering the will for Andrew Watson d. 1780 in Jedburgh.  It's 4 pages long and all I can recognize is the odd name or place name.

Any help would be appreciated. :-)

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Mary Wilcox Marriage Record Image Look Up?
« on: Tuesday 22 February 22 21:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if someone would be able to get a copy of Mary Wilcox's marriage record.  Family Search says they have a copy but that I have to either:

To view these images do one of the following:

Access the site at a family history center.
Access the site at an affiliate library.

Unfortunately, I don't live near either of these.  I'm trying to find the names of her father and her husband's father.

Here is the record information:

Digital Folder Number
   008095471
Image Number
   00376
Collection Information
England, Herefordshire Bishop's Transcripts, 1583-1898

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

London and Middlesex / Clara Mary Matthews - Missing prior to 1901
« on: Monday 24 January 22 19:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if some of you could use your amazing skills to help me find Clara before her marriage in 1896 in Chelsea.

I can find Clara Mary Matthews on her marriage certificate and on the 1901, 1911 and 1921 censuses, however, she seems to appear out of nowhere.  On the census, she is listed as being born in 1864 in Chelsea, Middlesex.  I can not find anyone by that name born on living in the area.  It seems she simply does not exist.  This is the information I have:
