Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / John Cope Beverley 1807
« on: Tuesday 01 February 22 18:32 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for any information about John Cope in Beverley.

He married Ann (Swaby) 12 July 1807 in Beverley

They had 3 children Grace 1808, John 1809 and Joseph 1811 all baptised in Beverley.

Ann was buried at Beverley St John 8 July 1814 aged 26

Grace remained in the Beverley area.

John and Joseph were next found in Barnsley where they both married.

Looking for any information regarding John senior such as, where he was born, or what happened to him, after his wife died in 1814.

Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks

Derbyshire / Ridge family in Heage 1600 -1800
« on: Tuesday 01 June 21 15:21 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for any information about the Ridge family in Heage especially Martha Ridge born c1700. She married Abraham Harrison in 1743 and then Thomas Litchfield in 1754. I have discounted the Martha Ridge born in Mackworth c1724, a daughter of Rafe Ridge, as I have found her burial in Mackworth.

Martha is mentioned in 2 wills

1749 Thomas Ridge names a daughter named Martha Harrrison and a son named David Ridge and other children.

1784 David Ridge mentions his sister Martha wife of Abraham Harrison

1702 Edward Ridge of Pentrich mentions a cousin named Thomas

Edward  Ridge appears to have been employed as a servant employed by Charles Pool at Heage Hall and appeared to have stolen the gold belonging to Charles Pool when he died suddenly.
Edward then bought several properties in Heage before moving to Pentrich.

The Ridge family appear to have been very involved with the dissenting religion in Heage/Belper.

I am struggling to find any baptism or marriage records for the Ridge family and any help will be appreciated.

Thanks for reading this

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Smith family in Scarcliffe, Belper and Heage
« on: Monday 12 October 20 14:48 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for any information about a George Smith who married Ann, surname unknown

They had 2 sons baptised in Scarcliffe, Matthew 17 January 1786 and Joseph 10 January 1790.

Joseph married Elizabeth Litchfield in Belper 24 September 1817.

When Joseph and Elizabeth's first son George was baptised in Heage on September 8th 1822, there was also an Elizabeth Smith aged 29 a daughter of George Smith (deceased) baptised on the same day.

Hoping someone may be able to help me to find details of George Smith senior and his wife.

Thank you for reading this.

Derbyshire / William Li(t)chfield born 1756 Duffield/Belper
« on: Monday 03 February 20 15:56 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to prove that William married an Elizabeth Grasham around 1794 in Derbyshire.

William's first wife Hannah Agard died in 1794 and then William had 3 more children baptised in Belper between 1795 and 1800 and their parents were named as William and Elizabeth.

There are several trees on 'ancestry' giving the information that William married an Elizabeth Grasham but there are no sources documented.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

« on: Monday 29 July 19 18:07 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find information about any deaths of any of the Purcell family from about 1900 to 1965.

Also, would be interested in trying to locate any wills of the deceased Purcell family but am not sure how to research any relevant ones in order to order copies of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Cheshire / Annie Brannan
« on: Friday 26 July 19 15:13 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for a birth of Annie Brannan about 1865 in Birkenhead or the Isle of Man.

1871 census she is aged 7 living with her parents John aged 40, Elizabeth aged 36, James P aged 14, Catharine aged 10 and Sarah aged 6 on the Isle of Man.

1881 census she is aged 15 living with her parents John 42, Elizabeth 40, James 21 (surname Purcell not Brannan), and Elizabeth 9 on the Isle of Man and gives her birth place as Cheshire.

1891 census she is aged 26 and is living with her Mother Elizabeth 54, Sarah 24 and nephew Edgar Loseby 0

1893 Annie marries Thomas Cardwell in Ulverston and gives her maiden name as Purcell.
Her first daughter Janie is born 18 Nov 1894 and Annie gives her maiden name as Purcell.

She has 2 more children Sarah 1897 and Percy 1900 and gives her maiden name as Brannon.

There appears to be a link with the Purcell family as Annie's mother, Elizabeth or Isabella, was married to a James Purcell who died in 1858 in Birkenhead and they had a son named Patrick born in 1857.  I think his name was changed to James Patrick and he then becomes James Patrick Brennan until his marriage to Catherine Keenan in 1886.

1861 census Patrick Purcell (stepson) aged 5 is living with John Brannon aged 23 and Isabella Brannon aged 24.

Hope someone can understand my ramblings and I do appreciate you taking time to read through it!

Thanks

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / London in the Barrow?
« on: Wednesday 26 September 18 15:51 BST (UK)  »
George Foundhere (Foundier) gives his place of birth as London in the Barrow or Burton in the 1851 census.
He and his family were removed from Barnsley in 1825/26 to Southwark workhouse and had a child baptised in St George the Martyr, Southwark on 1 March 1826.  They were then allowed to return to Barnsley.
Can anyone advise me as to where London in the Barrow or Burton maybe?  I am thinking that it may be around Borough High Street/Southwark area.
Any help will be greatly appreciated as George has been one of my 'dead ends' for a few years.  I have presumed that he may have been a 'foundling' and appears in York about 1819 when he marries.
Thank you for reading this.
