Antrim / Belfast meet
« on: Thursday 09 August 07 09:05 BST (UK)  »
Thanks to Scotsmum at Ballymena and Christopher at PRONI who were able to meet up with me while I was in the Belfast area. When searching for your roots its like a jigsaw and some pieces turn up and fill the right space while others are still waiting to be picked up and some you think belong turn up to be the wrong piece. Maybe i should look at another part of the jigsaw for awhile  Anyway I hope to be back some day and to spend more time enjoying your part of the world.

Antrim / Ballymena Registrars Office
« on: Sunday 03 June 07 13:10 BST (UK)  »
There appears that a number of Hutchinson's in the years 1850 -1870 have been listed as being married at the Ballymena Registrars Office in the Parish of Kirkinriola.  My question : Is there any place that would have these records available.

Thanks

Occupation Interests / Boot /shoemaker Ballymena 1830
« on: Sunday 21 January 07 11:52 GMT (UK)  »
My roots go back to Andrew Hutchinson who was a boot/ Shoemaker in  Ballymena around 1830. He had a son Andrew who left Belfast in 1838. There may be some information in regards this profession that would be helpful in tracking down this family line. I post this now in the hope that some one may be able to shed some light as I can not find any information prior to young Andrew and his wife Esther McNeice leaving  in 1838 with their 7 children bound for Australia

Antrim / HUTCHINSON, Ballymena area
« on: Thursday 28 December 06 09:30 GMT (UK)  »
I understand a lot of Irish records were destroyed by fire, and so I require assistance as to where I should go from here.
I am searching for Hutchinson’s that are associated with one of these places in Ireland. Kirkinriola, Ballymena, Co Antrim.
The following were born in this part of Ireland.
Andrew Hutchinson who married Jane Miller about 1782. They had a son Andrew born about 1790-99 at Ballymena. Were there other children?
This son married about 1820  Esther McNeice who was born Feb 1802 at Ballymena. Her Father was James McNeice and the mother is mentioned as Martha.
Both Father and son were listed as a boot and shoemaker.  Esther McNeice, was the daughter of James McNeice (brickmaker) and Martha
Andrew and Esther's children were Mary, Archibald, Matilda, Robert, Andrew, Sarah Jane and Henry
Andrew, Esther and their children left  Belfast in 1838 for Sydney On board the ship "Garrow" Under the care of Andrew were Sarah Ann, niece to Esther ( Mcneice)  her age was below 18yrs a sister Mary aged 18 , who came from Belfast ,was also under the care of Andrew Hutchinson. She was listed as daughter of John and Nancy (He was a reedmaker) Mary was listed as a dressmaker.
There were a number of other McNeices on board. Another passenger was Margaret Ellis under the care of a relative. She came from the County of Antrim She married Archibald not long after their arrival in Sydney.
