Yorkshire (West Riding) / ANN HARRISON - DARFIELD
« on: Saturday 29 March 14 12:24 GMT (UK)  »
The census give Ann's place of birth as Darfield but I have been unable to find a baptism for her and therefore have no idea who her parents are.  I know she was born on 22 April 1809 and married on 9 March 1837 in Darfield - just a little too early for me to purchase her marriage certificate.  She is now my brick wall and I would be glad of any help in tracing her parents.

Many thanks.

Northumberland / ATKIN MARRIAGE - Newcastle upon Tyne - COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 12 April 12 18:19 BST (UK)  »
I have James Atkin b 1785 in Newcastle with wife Anne b c1794 in Cowpen and would like help with their marriage please.

I have found baptisms for the children (shown in the 1841 census) giving the parents names as James Atkin and Anne and one of them as James Atkin and Anne O.  These baptisms took place between 1814 and 1831.  However, I have also found baptisms for three other children born between 1807 and 1812 at the same church (St Andrew's) giving the parents names as James Atkin and Anne Cooke.  As the mother's maiden name is shown does this infer they were not married?  Is it safe to believe that these Anne's are one and the same person?  The 1851 census gives Anne's birthplace as Cowpen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / BELLINGHAM PARISH REGISTERS
« on: Monday 26 March 12 13:55 BST (UK)  »
I have the baptism of my 3xGGrandmother, Bridget Stokoe, Bellingham in 1800 with parents John and Ann.  I find no other children to these parents nor do I find a marriage for John and Ann.

Bridget married Edward Richardson in Bellingham in 1826 and I would be glad if anyone could give me any assistance in finding the marriage of John Stokoe to Ann ? in order that I might ascertain Ann's surname.  I would also be grateful if any further children of this union could be found.

Thank you for any help.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / JOHN PROCTOR - born c1820 Newcastle upon Tyne
« on: Friday 16 March 12 17:13 GMT (UK)  »
I have the marriage certificate of my 2xGGrandfather, John Proctor, where his father is noted as Thomas Proctor, occupation gardener.  (John's grandfather's occupation was a gardener).  The marriage register shows his parents as Thomas and Catherine Proctor.

However, I have never found Thomas in any shape or form, and I believe John is the illegitimate son of Catherine Proctor, daughter of my 4xGGrandparents.  I have found the death of a Catherine Proctor in 1835 with the correct birth date, burial St Andrews, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Can anyone help please in finding the baptism of John which may help in confirming or otherwise that he was indeed the illegitimate son of Catherine Proctor.

A big ask but I have been stuck on this for quite some time.

Many thanks.

I am in need of help in tracing my 3 x GGrandmother - Elizabeth (surname unknown).

Robert Thornton and Elizabeth had seven children baptised in Ulgham between 1820 and 1832.

I find Robert born 1796 in Longhorsley) and Elizabeth in the 1841 census living in Widdrington.  By 1851 Robert is a widower still living in Widdrington.

I have never found a marriage for Robert and Elizabeth nor do I find a death for an Elizabeth Thornton in the Widdrington area.

It may be that they never married.  If anyone has access to the parish register images for the children's baptisms I would be glad of a look up to see if a surname is shown for Elizabeth.

Any help in knocking down this brick wall very much appreciated.

I would be glad of any help in finding information on my 3 x GGrandmother - Elizabeth (surname unknown).

I now wonder if Robert and Elizabeth were indeed ever married.  If anyone has access to images for Ulgham baptisms I would be glad of a look up to see if there is perhaps a surname for Elizabeth.

Many thanks for any help in knocking down this brick wall.
