Lancashire / Molton Green
« on: Monday 30 July 12 21:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
In 1861 Sarah Ogden widow, is living in Castleton, Lancashire. She is said to have been born in Molton Green. Does anyone know where this might have been, please? In 1851 she says she was born Heywood but I can't find Molton Green on a modern map.
Thankyou

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / William EDWARDS born Longbridge Deverill, c1786
« on: Wednesday 30 March 11 22:00 BST (UK)  »
Hello
Would anyone be able to help me find the birth record of a William Edwards at Longbridge Deverill. According to the 1841 & 1851 Censuses he was born 1785/6 Longbridge Deverill but the 1861 says Crockerton,[1785], which was part of the Deverill parish at the time of his birth I think. I've checked the posts to make sure no-one has asked the same question before. I'd really appreciate any help that can be given. Thankyou

Somerset / Elizabeth TUTTON, born Dundry 1790
« on: Friday 25 March 11 13:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Elizabeth Tutton was born in Dundry, 1790. The parish register only seems to list a mother, also Elizabeth Tutton. I assume she wasn't married, therefore. I can't find the older Elizabeth's birth or a subsequent marriage. [I know Elizabeth the younger married a Thomas Cox, from Whitchurch,  at St. James, Bristol 1813.] Any suggestions as to where to look for information on the older Elizabeth would be great, thankyou.

« on: Friday 30 July 10 21:12 BST (UK)  »
I would be most grateful if anyone could help me find the christening of a James Towells, born in Bridgwater about 1800. That is a consistent date from various census returns. He ended up in Bristol and Hampshire. Thankyou

The Common Room / tracking down a trust deed or bequest?
« on: Tuesday 10 November 09 21:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I don't know if anyone can give me any help with this question. Up until my great-grandfather, who died in the 1920's, my father's family were receiving money from some kind of legacy. Along with the paperwork that verified the entitlement to this there was a very detailed family tree. I only saw it once, very briefly, when
I was a teenager - about 40 years ago. My great-grandfather gave it all away to a cousin - and it was through her daughter that I had the brief glimpse of the family tree, which had various other families on it. That woman has died and none of her family seem to have the papers. I would very much like to know if there could be any way to track down a copy of that family tree, which went back several centuries before the Victorian period.
This may be a hopeless wish but any suggestions would be received with thanks.

Somerset Lookup Requests / Winford or Nempnett thrubwell - BLANCHAT
« on: Monday 09 November 09 18:21 GMT (UK)  »
I know that an Anne Blanchat [or Blanshot, possibly Blanchard] married William Dirrick [Derrick] in Ubley, 15th May, 1673. His parish was Ubley. Hers is given as Stroud in Winford. There are 2 hamlets, Upper and Lower Strode. They are near Winford but nearer to Nempnett Thrubwell. Is anyone able to tell me if there is a record of Anne's birth or any possible family members in either Winford or Nempnett T. records, please. Thankyou.

He married a woman called Margaret, last name unknown and he had charlotte, born in Romily 1822 and then 8 other children, all born Cheshire. The last ones are said to born in Werneth in the 1851 census. The 1841 census only indicates county. I would like to know who Amos' parents were or Margaret's surname. any ideas would be appreciated.

Gloucestershire / help needed reading a census entry
« on: Saturday 11 August 07 19:55 BST (UK)  »
John Saunders, aged 35 years in the 1841 Bristol census. HO107/378/5  To the right of his name there is a handwritten comment. I can't read it, except for the word Brick, possibly Brick street which was close to Fox's Terrace I think. Can anyone read this please? I'd be grateful for any help. Ros
