« on: Tuesday 16 September 08 19:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone make out the occupation on the following census.  I'm sure it's not very interesting this side of the family haven't had any exciting occupations yet.

James Vowles b 1800ish
1851   Somerset, Barrrow Gurney.
H.O. 107/1946

Thanks
Tracey

Hi

Can anyone help with a bit of deciphering for me on the 1851 census.

For George Curtis b 1804 in Cold Aston living in Gt Barrington, Gloucestershire.  His occupation is Stone Mason but there is more in brackets but I can't read it.

Class: HO107; Piece: 1970; Folio: 30; Page: 10; GSU roll: 87370.

Thanks Tracey

Wales / Churches in Dukestown
« on: Thursday 19 June 08 16:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I've found an address on 1891 census as Opp Church Llangynidr St Cynydr and St Mary.

I can't find a Church in Dukestown on any maps and I can only find Llangynidr Road which looks a bit new on google maps.   The Old maps I've looked at aren't clear enough.

Does anyone know where my relatives lived in 1891?

Thanks Tracey

World War Two / WW2 - Navy
« on: Monday 16 June 08 23:02 BST (UK)  »
My Gt. Uncle was at  sea during WW2.  He did survive and died in 1971.   I'm not sure if it was the navy or the merchant navy.  Does anyone know of any useful sites where I may be able to do a search for him.

Thanks
Tracey

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / BMD look up request
« on: Thursday 29 May 08 11:43 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Could anyone help please.  Ancestry viewer is driving me mad.  It freezes constantly and shuts down my browser. They're looking into it, but I really need some information.

My gt gt grandmother Hannah Maria Denby b.1857 in Bristol and was living in Cardiff by 1876.  Her husband died in 1898 and she was the informant on his death cert.  At least two of her children were in a childrens home in Cardiff in 1901.  I'm guessing she died during this time.  I could be wrong there could be many reasons, but it's a place to start.

General searches are coming up blank, but I've found that a lot.  I usually find relatives by looking at the actual images of the death registers.

If anyone has a little time on their hands I would be really grateful if they could have a look for me

The Common Room / Business/Sole traders registers
« on: Saturday 19 April 08 20:23 BST (UK)  »
My Gt gt gt grandfather and his father before him were stonemasons in Cold Aston Gloucestershire.  Does anyone know if there are any registers of businesses and/or sole traders from 1797 to the mid 1800's that can be found online?

Gloucestershire / Parish Records
« on: Wednesday 20 February 08 18:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

So far I have done all my research online, but I am about to make the jump into parish records. My gt. gt. gt. grandfather was born in Cold Aston in 1821 My gt. gt grandather was born in Windrush in 1848 and my gt grandfather in Charlton Kings.

Where would be the best place to look for parish records for these areas?

Thanks
