London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / A drastic reduction in circumstances!

My 4x gt grandfather was born in 1776 in Westminster and was a stockbroker by profession and his brother was a lawyer. In 1816, he is described as a "gent" in the parish registers when his youngest child was christened. However his children were all hawkers or labourers by profession.
Is anyone aware of any stock market crashes etc in the 10-20 years after 1816 whereby my ancestor (and it appears his siblings) may have lost all or most of his money? Or is it more likely that it was due just to poor investments?
If anyone can shed any light or has any suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Aberdeenshire / Leipers from Aberdeen area

I am researching the Leiper name from the Aberdeen area. I am specifically looking for info about James Leiper (b.c1905-1910) who married a Campbell in about 1932 in Aberdeen. I believe he died in the late 1950s\early 1960s.

If anyone has any info on James Leiper (or his father of the same name), I would be very pleased to hear from them. Unfortunately the information I have is fairly vague, and the Leiper name is not that uncommon in the Aberdeen area. I also believe James Leiper senior was an itinerent worker so tracking him down on the census forms is proving somewhat difficult!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to locate my ancestors on the 1841 and 1861 census returns. They lived in the Bermondsey area and were leather workers.

Does anyone have any information about the leather industry in Bermondsey during the early to middle part of the 19th century? A lot of my relatives were leather dressers or tanners. and I am interested to find out more about the conditions they worked in - I understand the smell was pretty awful!

If anyone has any photos of the Leather Market area in Bermondsey, names of any companies that used to employ people or trade directory listings, or details of the conditions etc, that would be great.
