Cardiganshire / Llangoedmor
« on: Sunday 27 October 19 21:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hoping someone who knows the area may be able to help me, if my ancestors died when living in Llangoedmor, where might they be buried. They were married in Cilfowyr Baptist Chapel but I think that might be too far away? Is there a Baptist chapel closer or should I be looking somewhere else? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

Glamorganshire / Mountain Ash
« on: Wednesday 16 October 19 14:41 BST (UK)  »
I am planning to visit Mountain Ash and surrounding area in a few weeks time.  My great grandparents lived there in the late 1800s and early 1900s.  I know it is probably very optimistic to think I might be able to find where they are buried but I would like to try.  I have found a newspaper report of my gr grandfather's funeral which suggests he was buried in Caegarw Cemetery in 1917.  His wife died in 1915 so I guess she is probably there too.  Does anyone know anything about the cemetery please - is it enormous?  Is there any way of finding out where they were buried?  Any hints of good places to go to learn about history of this area?  (I did find a phone number on the council website for cemeteries but have a phone phobia and would rather email if at all possible!)  Thanks

Kent / Sittingbourne Burial
« on: Thursday 26 July 18 12:00 BST (UK)  »
My 2x gt gf died in Sittingbourne in 1902.  We will be visiting Kent soon and I would really like to locate his grave.  I can't find anything online to indicate where he was buried so I guess the main cemetery (Bell Rd?).  Has anyone any advice about visiting?  Is there an office where they might look up a location for me (as other cemeteries have for me in the past).  Thanks

Worcestershire / Kidderminster Records
« on: Friday 13 April 18 20:54 BST (UK)  »
Is there anywhere online where the Kidderminster parish records are available? I am hoping to find a baptism record for Eliza Hiles (Hailes) or marriage record for her and Richard Giles.

Cardiganshire / Cilfowyr Chapel

This thread seems to say that records for this chapel are available online but I can’t find anything on that link and a quick google isn’t helping.

Does anyone know where they are?

Cardiganshire / James Williams 1868
« on: Saturday 24 March 18 14:08 GMT (UK)  »
My great grandfather, James Williams was born in Tremain, Cardiganshire in 1868. I have found him on all the census records and his parents seem to be David Williams (1839, St Mary Cardigan) and Eleanor (1840). Is researching David Williams in Cardiganshire just a lost cause? Any tips please? Thank you

Sussex Completed Lookup Requests / COMPLETED Marriage record- Adames Reeves
« on: Wednesday 14 March 18 12:20 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace a marriage for George Adames (b. 1796, Pagham).  I know he married Susannah Penfold in 1820 and they had 2 daughters, Susannah and Ruth, but despite not being able to find a death for Susannah sr George later appears to be married to a Mary Ann.  There is a possible marriage with Mary Ann Reeves in South Bersted 1827 but no details about his parents to identify if it is him.

If anyone can look anything up that might help I would be very grateful.

Thank you

Family History Beginners Board / Where next?
« on: Monday 07 August 17 09:46 BST (UK)  »
Using online resources my husband and I have both gone back to the 1841 census on all our direct lines, although admittedly could do with ordering a few certificates to confirm some people, but that aside we are now stuck on what to do next?  Looking on Familysearch there are some births and marriages which look possible to go back a couple more generations on some families but how can they be confirmed?  If we were to travel to a local records office to view baptism and marriage records (and other records?) would we actually be any further on?  How is it possible to confirm you have the correct families? Where do we go next?

My grandfather, Wilfred Lowe, and his elder brother Arthur, are both in the football team photograph (Kidderminster Grammar School, 1911-12), Wilfred seated on the ground on the left and Arthur back row, third from right.  I have no idea who is in the infant school one but if the dates look about right could it be the same boys a few years earlier?  Is anyone good at recognising faces and able to match them up?
Thank you for looking.
