I can't find any official marriage record of the marriage of my ancestors named William Trotter and Caroline Dill. William is supposed to be from Scotland and is beleived to be a decendant of the Earl Of Gowry. Caroline is from England. They were beleived to be married on 1724 in Slinford, Sussex, England. And had their first child James Trotter Sr. in 1725.
Sometimes afterwards, they moved to Brunswick County, Virginia in the United States. Which is were their other two kids were born. The other children were named Phillip Trotter and Nancy Trotter. The only information I have of William & Caroline's marriage is family letters. But in order to make it legitite I need actual proof. A family member wrote and had a book published called Trotter Genealogy: The Tennessee, Virginia, Mississippi Trotter Line.1725-1948. By Mrs. I.P Trotter. The book has information on the marriage but it's only family records. The book also talks about our family from England and Scotland..
If anyone knows anything or if you can help me find records or if you know of anyone then please reply back. It would be greatly appreciated...
