Derbyshire / St Aulkmund's Graves & Gravestones
« on: Saturday 06 September 14 13:20 BST (UK)  »
I am planning a trip to Nottingham Road Cemetery,  tomorrow and was also interested in other Derby burial sites.

Now I know that I have relatives buried at various churches,  including Derby Cathedral,  but I am more interested in burials at St Aulkmund's.

I know that in the 70s/80s that the original church was demolished to make way for the ring road,  but I am interested to find out what happened to the graves and, in particular, the gravestones.

We're they moved to the new church or another location?

Staffordshire / Marriage Lookup - Mottershead/Hulme - Leek - 1818
« on: Saturday 05 April 14 15:24 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the Marriage of James Mottershead (1790-1870) and Mary Hulme (1794-1878).

The only information I have is that they were married on the 13th August 1818 at St Edwards, Leek. I cannot confirm this information. I am not sure from where this information came. I have not been able to find any on-line confirmation.

Their children are:
 - Thomas Mottershead - b 28 Nov 1818, Christened 13 Aug 1819 - Leek
 - Anne & John Mottershead - b 1824, Christened 11 Apr 1824 - Leek
 - Paul Mottershead - b 13 May 1827, Christened 18 May 1827 - Leek
 - Elizabeth Mottershead - b 1833 - London

Thanks You

Richard Mottershead (4th Great Grandson of James Mottershead and Mary Hulme)

You may have seen my other thread, well I started my Ferguson research again (from scratch) and have found better information (with the aid of the UHF's site).

I am currently looking for 2 individuals.

Individual 1: Thomas Ferguson b 1882 - Married, aged  27, to Eveline English, aged 21, on 23 Dec 1909.

Individual 2: Anne (Claire) Ferguson 1882-1886 - Married, full age, to David William Coulter, full age, on 20 Jun 1906.

Both these individuals have a father of Edward Ferguson (Stone Cutter), I believe that the mother is Jane Adams. Edward and Jane was married on 1st April 1881, both of full age. They had 4 children (Thomas, Anne(Claire), Sarah,  and Edward).

Sarah was baptised and married at Ekenhead Presbyterian Church in Shankill, where Edward and Jane were married.

Both of these individuals cannot be found on the ancestry ireland website.

Thanks in Advance,

Antrim / Where to Start with my Antrim Ancestors
« on: Friday 09 November 07 14:28 GMT (UK)  »
Sorry about the long post...It explains how far I am along the path.

I do most of my genealogy myself, from home on the Internet, and generally venture out to visit libraries and such like, around my home town of Nottingham. But I am struggling getting started on the Belfast arm of my family tree.

My Grandfather Edward Ferguson was born in Belfast in 1888 and emigrated to Australia in 1904/05 or 1912 (This is hotly debated in my family). He moved to Australia, because his 2 step-sisters, Sarah and Jean (supposedly), from his father's previous marriage (he also supposedly has a half-brother, no-one knows any details about this person other then he may have died young).

His father was Edward Ferguson and mother was James Adams and they were married in 1881. We have the marriage certificate for this marriage. On the marriage certificate it states that he was of full age. A copy of the marriage details is on the "Fergusons of Belfast" site:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~colin/FergusonsOfIreland/Belfast.htm

The problem we have is that I am struggling finding an good place to search for my Great-grandfather's first marriage, hopefully an age, and therefore a birth date (certificate, etc) before spending a lot of my hard-earned cash.

I joined Emerald Ancestors for a month to trial what they had and to try to find more information, I can find some birth information for a Sarah Ferguson, but after 1876, it seems non-existent. I need to find the other children of Edward to confirm the mother's name, and I believe they are older then this.

Emerald Ancestors has, however, given me some more potential information regarding my Grandfather's family.

I could join the Ulster Historical Federation, but I am not too sure that it will get me the search I am after, and as you have to pay for each detailed search, it could get quite expensive.

Does the UHF have a better search once you join, which search for birth records by father's name, or is there somewhere better for me to search.

Lastly, as the area they lived in is Shankill, is there a good place to search through the 1901/1911 Census. I have been to a few sites, but not come up with anything yet?

Thanks for any help.
