Family History Beginners Board / Exeter in Devon early Trade Directories
« on: Thursday 07 December 17 12:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, after flicking through the lists of Trade posts (up to 200), but could find no one mentioning Exeter, so here goes!!!  Know about Exeter Flying Post newspaper, from around 1750's, and of course there is the Gentleman's Magazine, (ok not based in Devon but does have some info in it!)
So it seems there is no book of Exeter with lists of Tradesmen, up to the 1830's or am I wrong???
 :(  ???

This is part of my estranged family, Ambrose was one of 5 children, he married Hannah Maria Southern at Wakefield in June 1900, and they had 3 children, the boy Percy died early after an accident, Hilda the eldest married Arnold Dawson in 1934, and failed to produce children, Mabel born 1911 in Crofton d2000, married in Sharlston 1940 to a Cyril Ward d2002, but sadly know nothing more about this union? Think they had 2 children, can anyone offer any insights??

Warwickshire / William Edwards Clark
« on: Wednesday 14 January 15 13:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, William married Florence Mary Cooper in 1900 at B. Ecclesall, Sheffield, but moved to Edrington by the 1911 census. Here they had one child, Norman Edwards, born 1913 and died in 1997 age 83.
Believe he married, and had issue.
Wm. died in 1959 and left a Will to his son Norman, Florence died in 1962 at Edrington.
Thanks for looking.

Lincolnshire / Missing or Lost Family out of Crowland
« on: Saturday 25 October 14 12:29 BST (UK)  »
Have found a missing cousin who married a butcher George Casswell out of Crowland, in 1814, did find out they had at least 3 children, George, Wm. Edwards, and a Sarah, but then nothing, no sign of them in the census, or BDM's anywhere?
Also appear to have lost a Austin Wm. Casswell, also of Crowland, moved to marry in Lewisham by the 1871 census, then nothing, very odd???? Can't find him his wife Emma, or their 2 children Ada, and Irene, could they have emigrated?  ???
Thanks for looking.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Lost Cousins in Wakefield
« on: Thursday 28 August 14 19:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi, some very good news today, finally after years of hitting my head against a brick wall, (never say never give up hope!)
Obtained a marriage certificate of a Hilda Edwards, marrying a Arnold Dawson in 1940 .
And her sister Mabel Edwards, (via a Will) telling me that she had married a Cyril Ward in 1934, and had 2 children, a boy and a girl, both at Lower Agbrigg, wonderful news.
All I have to do now is trace them? lol.
Any help will be gratefully received!
Cheers.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Pendleton Police Station - 1851.
« on: Thursday 01 May 14 19:09 BST (UK)  »
While carrying out some research here in Dorset, concerning a Charles Delahay, who as it turns out was a Police Inspector here in Dorset up to 1867. Cant find him in the 1871 census!
So while searching for him, came across some census records unreadable, and thought it would be a good plan to regenerate some of them. So need a look up concerning the Superintendent in 1851, one Richard Hale Durie (b Scotland 1814), who also cant be found in the 1861 census??? Along with Charles Bullock, and his wife Ann (b1815 & 1811 resp in Lancashire).
Seems that this page along with the whole of Pendleton's 1851 census, was fire damaged, according to Ancestry.
Thanks for looking.
