Lancashire Lookup Requests / Lewis & Mary Rigby
« on: Sunday 12 December 10 23:18 GMT (UK)  »
While trying to track an elusive ancestor, I came across Lewis & Ann Rigby. whose children were Margaret, b1804; Betty, b 1806; Ann, b 1808; Rachel, b 1810; James. b 1812; Alice, b 1814; Peter b 1815.  All were born at Farnworth near Prescot and baptized at St Wilfreds.
I am interested specifically in Peter and would like to know his movements during his adult life - did he migrate to Australia?
Anyone who has this family in their tree is welcome to contact me with any information.
Many thanks and a Merry Christmas to all.  8)

John Wimpress married Mary Kelly in NSW 1835.  They had 2 daughters, Ann and Mary.  They moved to Victoria.  Mary Snr died 1859 aged 52.  I can't find a death record for John Wimpress in VIc or NSW.  Can anyone shed some light on him?  Many thanks.

Isle of Man Lookup Requests / Catherine Shimmin
« on: Monday 03 May 10 04:39 BST (UK)  »
As far as I know, this Catherine Shimmin was born to John & Jane (nee Cubbon or Cubbin) in 1800, Arbory.  She emigrated to Australia as Catherine Cashin and I'm trying to find a record of the marriage  to James Cashin who was also on the ship - so far without success.  I have found her death reg in Australia, and there's no mention of husband's name and no children listed.  Her occupation was a nurse, which may explain them accompanying Ann Cashin & her family out to Aust in 1852.

Isle of Man Lookup Requests / James & Catherine Cashin
« on: Wednesday 28 April 10 03:54 BST (UK)  »
Quick history - James Cashin & Ann Teare married in 1838.  In 1848, James emigrated to Australia, leaving his family behind.  Wife Ann & 3 children sailed for Australia on board the Constance in 1852.  Sailing with them were James & Catherine Cashin, whose ages at that time were 55 & 53 respectively.  How do they tie in with James & Ann?  I'm having trouble picking up the thread.  Any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Desperately seeking Peter Rigby *COMPLETED*
« on: Tuesday 02 March 10 05:48 GMT (UK)  »
Peter Rigby migrated to Australia from England in 1853. His future wife Jane McAra emigrated to Australia from Scotland in 1853. They married  in New Zealand according to all children's birth certificates.  Children all born in Australia from 1855 onwards.
Now, I have been unable to find a marriage record anywhere in Aust or New Zealand.  I'm just hoping someone out there has been researching Peter or Jane & can help me out.  Obviously we're looking at a 2-year time frame 1853 - 1855.

Bedfordshire Completed Look ups / Looking for parents of John BRIGGS
« on: Wednesday 30 December 09 22:58 GMT (UK)  »
I have a John Briggs in my tree, who was born c.1788 in Shelton Bedford (according to IGI, and Bedford appears on his death cert as his place of origin).  He married Sarah Poole in London 1833, than later he emigrated to Australia.  I'm wondering if anyone knows who his parents are? Any help greatly appreciated.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / James CHARLES & Elizabeth CLEMENS
« on: Monday 23 November 09 23:02 GMT (UK)  »
This couple married in 1826 in Helston, according to Cornwall OPC database. I know Elizabeth emigrated to Australia with the children in 1855.  I 'm wondering if James died earlier.
And, I need to clarify who Elizabeth Clemens parents were as I'm not sure if she was born in 1801 at Helston, or 1807 at Falmouth. Her death cert in Australia has 'unknown' mother with William Clements as her father and favours the 1801 birth date.  There's a lot of conflicting information out there - as at various times, her maiden name is shown as Clemens/Clements, Williams & Fleming.  Couldn't find the family on the FreeCen.
Any help greatly appreciated, thank you.

Inverness / Looking for John Macintosh
« on: Thursday 19 November 09 00:13 GMT (UK)  »
What I know already is - Donald Macintosh (might not be correct spelling) born c 1822   married Ann Watson in 1857 & they emigrated to Australia in 1861.  His death certificate shows a John Macintosh & Kate Stewart as his parents. I'm having trouble finding John's birth date and marriage. Both Donald & John seem to be popular names!
Any help greatly appreciated.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Looking for Susannah Tellis
« on: Saturday 26 September 09 02:41 BST (UK)  »
Susannah Margaret Tellis, born c. 1820, married John Saxby 1841 in Westminster.  Her mother's name was Margaret, but I've come to a stalemate regarding any info relating to Margaret's husband & Susannah's father.  It's possible his name is James.  There seems to be a large variety of spellings - Tallis, Tellis, Tullis, Tillis etc.  If anyone can throw some light on it, I would appreciate it. Many thanks.
