Dumfriesshire / DARGAVEL James b. 1816
« on: Wednesday 30 December 09 19:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I am looking for information on the parents of James Dargavel, born 1816 in Dalton, Dumfries. The baptism record also mentions Gravelpits.  His parents' names are J. Dargavel and Jane Murdoch. I haven't been able to find any information at all about either of them.
Thank you.

Hello,

Does anyone out there know of a church record comparable to the Fasti Eccliaese, that would list the names of the ministers of the Church of Scotland in the 17th century?

Thank you.
Kathy

Hello,
I am seeking information on my gggggggrandfather, William Reid, born about 1678.  He was married to Sarah Bogle of Kilwinning  in 1702.  He was minister of Stevenston Church until his death in 1742.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could look for information? I am hoping someone might know of some church records I can access.
Thank you!
Kathy

Greetings!
I am searching for information on my ancestor James Dargavel.  He was born in one of these parishes: Penpont, Dumfries, Keir, or Tynron.  He raised his family in Sanquar, where the family was still living in 1869. He was married to Nelly McLachlan.  One of their sons was Joseph, born in Sanquar in 1808, married to Catherine, last name possibly Simpson, born in Ireland.
Any information would be very much appreciated.

Ayrshire / REID Thomas born about 1730 RESOLVED
« on: Wednesday 13 February 08 06:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can verify which Thomas Reid on Scotland's People might be my ancestor?  His children were born in Stevenston, my ancestor was his son John, who married Jean Hamilton.  There are several Thomas Reids, born in  the same time frame.  The locations are Kilwinning, Ochiltree, Ayr, Beith, Dalry, Largs, Dalmellington and Maybole.  If he raised his children in Stevenston, can anyone surmise from that where he might have been born?  I am not sure where to go from here!
Thank you!
Kathy
RESOLVED.  Thank you!

Dumfriesshire / DARGAVEL, Joseph, Sanquar 1841
« on: Wednesday 13 February 08 06:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I am looking for the ancestors of my greatgreatgrandfather, Joseph Dargavel.  He was born in Sanquar and lived his life there, to the best of my knowledge. In the 1841 census he was 30 years of age, as was his wife, Catherine, who was born in Ireland.
He was a cotton weaver, working for a company with the initials HLW.  In 1841 he was living on the south side of the High St. in Sanquar, and his children were James 12, Helen 7, Samuel 5, Jane 2.  I would be most grateful for any information. Thank you.

« on: Monday 11 February 08 18:32 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I am seeking information on the ancestors of my greatgreatgreatgrandparents, Thomas Reid and Agnes Walker.  Thomas was a weaver, living on Ferguslie sp? Street in Paisley. He would have been born in approximately 1800, and had a son, Alexander, who was born in Paisley June 13, 1830.  Alexander was married to Elizabeth Cochrane, also born in Paisley. I would love to hear from anyone who has information on Thomas, especially his father and grandfathers' names.
Thank you!
