The Common Room / General Peel Ship
« on: Saturday 18 February 17 22:58 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening,
If anyone can shed a light on this I would be greatful.
In the 1871 Census, my Samuel James Peppit age 32years,  was a Master on General Peel, in North Sea, Norfolk.  Looking for him in 1881 census, his wife is now a widow, so he has passed away between the two census. I have looked for his death without success also looked for info on the General Peel with no luck.  How can I find info on the ship ?
Kind regards
Maisey

The Common Room / 1885 Marriage certificate info please COMPLETED
« on: Wednesday 30 March 11 20:15 BST (UK)  »
Good day to you,

I have a  marriage certificate, of 1885 it states:

In the presence of us : ...............

There two names, both have the same surname as the bride,  my question is, if you can help me, was there an order as to which name would be first, ie, bride's mother then sister or did it not matter who signed the certificate first ?

Hope this makes sence to you.
Thankyou for reading and hopefully helping me.

Maisey

Hello rootschaters,

Not sure if I have posted this to the right area, but I am sure it will be sent to the right one,  hopefully with not to much trouble

Can anyone help with the  NAME OF THE STREET  on this 1901 census ?

Thanks for reading  this message.

Maisey.

**Moderator Comment**  Sorry, I know your question has been answered, but I've had to remove the image anyway -
only PORTIONS of census images, certificates etc. may be posted on Rootschat, to avoid breaches of copyright.  Thanks  :)

« on: Thursday 10 July 08 23:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello to everyone,

I have just joined up with Ancestry, and already I am stuck, can anyone advise me what to do?

I have the mariage cert of Minnie Susan Lazarus to William S Major August 1885,  West Ham, stating Minnie's age as 21 years old.
What I am having problems with, is finding her birth cert.  I have looked in 1863-1866 with no luck, so what am I doing wrong.

Help, Help,PLEASE

Hi to all the restorers out there.

Is it at all possible for this photo of my mum & her twin sister to have the creases smoothed out across their eyes.

I have looked at lots of previous photos and see that miracles do happen on this site.

I hope I have had success in posting this photo with the help of Pauline J & Chinakay.

Thankyou,
Linda.

The Common Room / please explain .....
« on: Sunday 06 April 08 19:39 BST (UK)  »
Can someone please explain to me what it means at :

That at the bottom of most postings, there in small type
are names and places, what are they for ?
Is it people's surnames and places that, that poster has
                found in their  family.?
                 Linda
