Cambridgeshire / SIMPERINGHAM girls of Pampisford
« on: Sunday 08 November 09 00:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have found that Mary SIMPERINGHAM married John WILLIMOTT 1791 in Pampisford.  Ann SIMPERINGHAM married John's brother, Sennitt WILLIMOTT 1797 (in Pallots Marriage Index).  I cannot prove it, but would imagine Ann and Mary are sisters - perhaps Mary being the elder sister.

Does anyone know or know how I can find out?

Cheers

Hi

Mary Anne FOWLER and William Charles WILLIMOTT were married (by Licence) St Mary at Lambeth, 3 Sept 1825.
Witnesses: Wiliam FOWLER …followed by in brackets (William FOWLER Jun.), Jane FOWLER, Eliza FOWLER, Sennitt WILLIMOTT.

I'm wondering if you had to be of age to witness a marriage.  I'm trying to find Sennitt WILLIMOTT to see how he might be related to the groom.  In my trawlings, I've found a Sennitt WILLIMOTT but he would be surely too young to act as a witness.

Cheers and thanks

Hi

Attached is the marriage entry:  Mary Anne FOWLER and William Charles WILLIMOTT were married (by Licence) St Mary at Lambeth, 3 Sept 1825.

I'm unable to decipher the names of three of the Witnesses: Wiliam FOWLER …followed by in brackets (William FOWLER ? could be Jun.?), Jane (Surname ?), Eliza FOWLER, (Christian name ?) WILLIMOTT.

I'm hoping if I can work out their names, I might be able to research further.

Cheers and thanks

Hi all

I'm keen to know more about Samuel HODGKINSON and his wife Elizabeth (surname unknown).  I thought if I could find details of their marriage, it might give me some clues about Elizabeth's surname and then I can go from there.

I'm assuming they would have been married at Uxbridge around 1815/16 based on the birth of their first 'known' child, William Thomas HODGKINSON born 1817, Uxbridge.

Other children are: Sarah Elizabeth HODGKINSON, born in New York, US, 1818 and Samuel HODGKINSON born 1828, Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire.

I am pretty certain Samuel (senior) was a slater.  From what I've been told, they went to New York for a couple of years to do some work there but returned.  Maybe the job was over... seems like a long way to go for such a short time...

Thank you for considering my enquiry.

Hi

I'm hoping to find some more information about Rebecca PETERS.  All I know is that she married Thomas PAYNE 02 Sep 1804 Petersham, Surrey.

I don't know if she was of age when she married.  I know they had children between 1812 and 1820 (seems a bit odd they didn't get 'started' for 8 years!).

It's an impossible task but I'm keen to find out when she was born and who her parents were and when she died.  I've done numerous searches of the IGI (lots of Rebecca Peters' in there) and I've tried a few other things but nothing has cropped up for me.  MODIFICATION:  Have just found out Petersham is not on the IGI - no wonder I couldn't find anything  :-[.

I am very grateful for your consideration of my request.

Hi

I've just been told the above microfilm I ordered has arrived at my local FHS in Melbourne.

If you want to look up the number is 1618972 - Registri ebraici.

If anyone needs a lookup, the film is there until late November (2009) - I plan on making a few trips until then.

I don't speak Italian but don't think it will be too difficult...we shall see.

Cheers

Hi

I'm very eager to know if anyone knows about what's contained on 1800's marriage certificates.

My question is:  If a couple were married in St Pancras, London, in 1838, would the names of both parents be on the marriage certificate?

I haven't seen the physical certificate but have been told that the bride's father's name is listed as Thomas Payne and the groom's father's name is listed as Samuel Hodgkinson and his wife is Elizabeth

If the name of the bride's mother is missing, would this indicate she might have already deceased?

Thank you for taking the time to consider my questions.

Cheers

I have not idea if such a thing exists but I'm looking for a list of American servicemen who would have been stationed in (or passing through) South East Queensland around mid 1916? I am specifically searching for the name O'Gorman.

A little bit of background...  In defence of my great-grandmother's virtue, this man must have been very handsome!!!!  It seems my great-grandmother "accidentally" got pregnant to an American fellow named O'Gorman and it leaves a huge hole in our family tree.  He wasn't listed on my grandmother's birth certificate. ...just a little skeleton in the closet!

Thank you for taking the time to consider my question.

Cheers
