Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Eliza Few - Marriage Lookup
« on: Friday 20 February 09 21:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I'm trying to find a marriage between Eliza Few and Isaac Griffin in the early 1840's.

In 1851 they were living in the Trevethin area of Monmouthshire:

Isaac Griifin         29  Iron Acton
Eliza Griffin          28  Iron Acton
George Griffin       8   Iron Acton
Henry Griffin         4   Glamorgan
Sarah Ann Griffin  2   Glamorgan

I've searched the GRO Marriage Indexes but haven't found a record of Eliza and Isaac's marriage.  If the 1851 details are correct it looks likely the marriage would have taken place in the south Gloucestershire area between 1841 and 1843.  No record of such in the indexes though.

If anyone has a copy of the south Gloucestershire marriage index 1837 - 1901 I'd be grateful if they could take a look for the marriage for me.  Thanks in advance.

Pembrokeshire / Marriage Lookup COMPLETE
« on: Saturday 02 August 08 20:11 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for the marriage of a David Harris (c.1803) and Ann Rees (c.1808) which probably took place in the parish of St. Issells.

On various census returns both state their place of birth as St. Issells.  They lived in the parish after their wedding and all of their eight children were baptised there.  Their first born, William, was baptised 15 March 1832 so I'm assuming the marriage took place about 1830/31.

Would be grateful for any details about the marriage on the 1813-1837 marriage index.

Thanks.

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Merthyr Marriage Look Up
« on: Friday 26 January 07 20:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'd be grateful if someone with a copy of the Glamorgan Marriage Index would check for a marriage between WILLIAM JONES and ANNE EVANS in Merthyr Tydfil around the years 1827 - 1830.

They're both common names I know, there may well be a few (more than a few probably) marriages but I really would appreciate any possibles between the years stated above.  Thanks in advance.

Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Llangynwyd Baptism
« on: Wednesday 19 July 06 21:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for a possible baptism of an Elizabeth Richards born c.1843.  The 1851 census gives her age as 8 and her place of birth as Llangynwyd.

Her parents were Edmund & Margaret Richard(s) and in 1841 they were living in the hamlet of Cwmdu.  Unmarried at the time of the 1841 census, I believe Edmund was a widower and a Margaret Cook was listed as a female servant
in the household.   I have been unable to trace a marriage for them and a baptismal record for Elizabeth would greatly help in putting a timeline to the family.

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / 1851 Lookup
« on: Wednesday 05 January 05 15:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I'd be grateful if someone could lookup the following family in Trevethin 1851:

George Richards        25    H     b.  Mitchel Troy
Margaret Richards     23    W    b.  Pontypool
Joseph Richards          2     S     b.  Garndiffaith

Joseph's birth certificate states he was born in Garndiffaith Sept 1848, so it's probable they were in the Garndiffaith area in 1851.  It seems I have been following the wrong path regarding George Richards who I originally traced through the 1841 census.  Hope that I am now back on the right track.

Thanks in advance

Pembrokeshire Lookup Requests / 1841/51/61 Pembroke Lookup
« on: Friday 31 December 04 15:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I am trying to trace the family of SARAH HARRIS born St Issells, Pembrokeshire possibly around 1839.  Her parents were Daniel (details unknown) and Ann Harris born Pembroke possibly about 1810.  Sarah also had a sister Hannah possibly born about 1849.  The only information I have is from her marriage certificate and details of the 1871 and 1881 Monmouthshire census, I believe her father Daniel died before 1871 for I can find no mention of him after 1871.

At the time of her marriage in 1867 in Llanhilleth, Monmouthshire, Sarah had two sons:  Thomas, born 1858/59 and George, born 1865/66 both born in St Issells.

I believe the family moved to Monmouthshire in the mid 1860's.  Sarah's mother Ann is widowed and living with Sarah's family in 1881, so I assuming her parents brought all the family to Monmouthshire.

What's confusing me is that she had two sons at the time of her marriage in 1867.  Was she married previously?  If she was why was she still using the surname Harris?  Her marriage certificate states Sarah Harris age 28, spinster and her father as Daniel Harris occupation coal miner.  Hannah Harris was a witness at the marriage and is living with Sarah in 1871.  Maybe the family left Pembroke because of the stigma of two illegitimate children.

I would be very grateful if anyone could shed some light on this family through one the earlier census' of Pembroke.

Thanks
