Scotland / Birth of John Gallacher - Glasgow 1876?

I am looking for the birth inforamtion for a John Gallacher, born in the Glasgow area in the late 1870s. His father was also John Gallacher and his mother was Mary Ann Gallacher (nee Fiford). I have tried searching on the Scotland GRO website, but there are loads of John Gallachers and it's getting expensive looking at each entry one by one. Is there a better way of tracking this one down?

Any help/advice appreciated!

I am looking for a Mary Ann Fiford (born around 1853) and her father Isaac Fiford (and any other members of the household). They are probably in Stepney or Poplar. On Mary Ann's wedding certificate, Isaac's occupation is given as 'Brass Moulder'. Mary Ann's address was given as 25 Queen Street.

On a number of transcriptions the surname has been wrongly spelled TIFORD instead of FIFORD.

Any help much appreciated.

Scotland / Glasgow Limrick?

I have a census return from London, which shows the head of the household and the eldest son both having been born in 'Glasgow Limrick'. I've heard of Limerick in Ireland - is there a Limrick in the Glasgow area? Or does this entry mean something else?

Australia Lookups completed / Where to start? Houghton in Oz

I am trying to find out what happen to a gt. uncle, Fancis George Houghton (b.1896 in London) who eimgrated to Australia, it is rumoured when he was around the age of 15 i.e. 1911 ish.

From the odd snippets I have been able to glean, he went to a farm, but ran away. Later on he had a daughter (Phyllis?). No idea what state or territory he might have gone to.

No one alive has any more information. Any ideas where to start?

I have an 1863 marriage certificate of Philip Freiensener and Srah Stanton - both giving their residence as New York Street, Bethnal Green. Do they appear in the street in 1861?
