Is anyone doing research on David Anderson LAWSON & Agnes Wright FITZSIMONS ?
They were married in Toronto Canada, but a male child James Mitchell LAWSON was born to them in Glasgow in 1925, so I'm unsure if Agnes was Canadian or not, or if David was born in Canada, and returned to Glasgow, or born in Glasgow and went to Canada......confused .......so am I  ::)

Thanking you in advance,

Tassie  :)

1855...came to Oz ..........28......b 1927

Flintshire / Edward Jones watchmaker
« on: Sunday 10 July 05 16:18 BST (UK)  »
G'day everyone,

I have just discovered that my g-grandfather John Williams was given a book of Bunyons Choice Works before he left for Oz in 1855 by a Mr Edward Jones.

The inscription reads:

Presented by Mr Edward Jones to John Williams as he is on the point of sailing to Van Diemans Land, 3rd April, 1855.

On the oppisite page is written :

Edward Jones, Watchmaker, Holywell

I have done Google searches but have been unable to come up with a watchmaker named Edward Jones for this year. Does anyone know where I may find info on him please?

Cheers, Tassie  :)

Wales / Welsh Choirs pre 1855
« on: Saturday 09 July 05 14:48 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find what choirs were in North Wales prior to 1855, as my g-grandfather John Williams, b Anglesey C1825, once sang before Queen Victoria, but as to where or when I have no idea.

It may have been at the massed choir at the Crystal Palace in 1851, but I can't find much about the choir or from where they came from

Does anyone have any info on either?

Tassie  :)

Lanarkshire / STEVEN Family, Glasgow
« on: Sunday 26 June 05 17:13 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking information on John STEVEN, born Glasgow C 1812.

I have very little info about his life in Glasgow, before  he came to Australia in 1842

His parents may have been Janet and Alexander, from the naming of his children when he married Barbara Miller, born 1840 in Wurttenburg, Germany (changed from the German spelling of Meuller) in Tasmania in 1857. She died in Tasmania in 1883 aged 43.

He died in Tasmania, in 1904 aged 92

Hoping someone may be able to help

Thanks, Tassie

Trying to find information on Jim  Lawson, born March 1925. He was a builder who worked for James Stuart & Co, Glasgow.

He emigrated to Australia aboard the SS Moreton Bay in 1949.

His next of kin was given as Mr Thomas LAWSON, c/o McIntyre, Ashgill Rd, Possilpark.

Jim's address was c/o Kerr, Sunnylaw St, Possilpark.

I am hoping someone recognises him
