Australia / Margaret YOUNG, nee McCONNELL living Perth WA in 1916
« on: Sunday 03 July 11 11:53 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can please add any new info from Australian Genealogy Records for MARGARET YOUNG (nee McConnell) who was living c/o Mrs Wagstaff at Guilford Road, Mountlowly, Perth WA in 1916. She was born 22 January 1872 in Middlebie, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, mother Henrietta McConnell, and must have travelled to Australia some time between 1891 and 1916. She may have married in Australia. She had a son named Gilbert Moore who was born in Tallentire, Cumberland, England in 1889 and it was from Gilbert's 1916 Canadian Military Registration papers that I discovered his mother in Australia. I have yet to discover what became of Gilbert. Any new info from Passenger Lists, BMD's, Obituaries etc. would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Canisp,

Lanarkshire / Occupants 157 Helen St, Glasgow 1874?
« on: Saturday 14 August 10 11:44 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me is there any way I can find out who resided at 157 Helen Street, Glasgow in 1874, or even at the time of the 1871 and 1881 Census? Perhaps there are some directory's that would list the occupants?

Thanks,
Canisp.

Cumberland / McConnells, Cumberland 1870's
« on: Thursday 12 August 10 18:49 BST (UK)  »
I suspect the following two females may be McConnell sisters I have on my tree but cannot trace them after 1871/1872. Jane was born 1850 Kirkcudbright, Kirkcudbrightshire and Henrietta was born about 1853 in Hoddam, Dumfriesshire.

JANE McCONNELL marriage registered March 1877 Whitehaven.
HENRIETTA McCONNELL marriage registered September 1877 Cockermouth.

(Their sister Mary was married in Cockermouth in 1887).

I would also like to find details of the following birth -

JAMES McCONNELL birth registered June 1875 Whitehaven.

Does anyone have details of the above? Or as I am not familiar with obtaining English Certificates can anyone advise on how I should go about obtaining certificates for the above?

Thanks,
Canisp.

Midlothian / LAWSON, Edinburgh
« on: Friday 14 May 10 14:01 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out what became of my GG Grandmothers siblings in Edinburgh mid 1800's. She was WILHELMINA LAWSON and her parent's were GEORGE LAWSON, a shoemaker, (1807-1875) and JANET LAMONT (1808-1857). They lived in Fredrick Street/Rose Street/Thistle Street. Wilhelmina's siblings were as follows (all born Edinburgh) -

ELIZABETH LAWSON - born 09 Oct 1831, probably died before 1842 as not on any Census's.
ISABELLA LAWSON - born 24 Apr 1833, living in Rose Street in 1861, unable to find on later Census's.
GEORGE LAWSON - born 07 Feb 1835, Apprentice Shoemaker living Rose Street in 1851,unable to find on later Census's.
DANIEL LAMONT LAWSON - born19 Oct 1836, Apprentice Seedsman living Rose Street in 1851, unable to find on later Census's. ***UPDATE Have found Daniel. He moved to Carlisle then Manchester where he died in 1899***
MARY ANNE LAWSON - born 17 Jan 1839, Living in Hill Street with her father in 1871, unable to find on later Census's.
HENRY LAWSON - born 29 Sep 1841, Piano Tuner living Rose Street in 1861, unable to find on later Census's.
FREDERICK LAWSON - born 14 April 1845, Medical Student living Rose Street in 1861, unable to find on later Census's.
ROBERT LAWSON - born about 1847, living Rose Street in 1851, possibly died before 1862 as unable to find on later Census's. In fact he may well have died 1851/1852 as there is an OPR baptism of Mary Anne, Henry, Wilhelmina, Frederick and Janet on 24th March 1852, but no mention of Robert.
JANET LAWSON - born 28 Jul 1850, living Rose Street in 1861, unable to find on later Census's.

It is strange that they have all "disappeared". I cannot find any Emmigration Records for any of them on ancestry. Of course the females may have married. I am hoping someone may be able to find some Burial Records/Monumental Inscriptions for them?

Thanks,
Canisp

Canada Lookup Request / 1920's Alberta Marriage & Birth Look-ups
« on: Friday 05 February 10 14:03 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone please help in finding details of the following Marriage and birth, most probably in Alberta.

Marriage - ALEX IRVINE and JEANIE ELLIS, both born in Scotland, were married after July 1923. Ships Passenger details for Jeanie show that she left Scotland 10 Aug 1923 destined for Colemen/Coleman? Alberta to meet Alex "to be married". Alex was a coal miner and Jeanie had an uncle, William Ellis,  who ran mining operations in Three Hills so perhaps they married there.

Birth - MARGARET JEAN ELLIS IRVINE, daughter of Alex and Jeanie, probably born sometime between 1924 and 1935.

Thanks,
Canisp.
