Europe / Germany death record
« on: Saturday 28 May 22 09:36 BST (UK)  »
Please could some kind person, help me find a death record for James Warburton in the
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern,  area of Germany in 1877.
I am hoping he is the ancestor of my husband who seems to have disappeared from Leeds after being found guilty of fraud. He could have returned there as he had previously lived, worked and committed his crime there but was  tried in this country as it was a British company.  His wife name was Amelie.
Many thanks, Jan

Armed Forces / Signed up under age??
« on: Sunday 25 January 15 10:03 GMT (UK)  »
 Hi
We have been led to believe that my husbands grandfather, Sidney Joseph Arnold b1898, joined the army when he was under age. His father told the authorities and got him removed. He rejoined during WW1, was wounded and discharged and did not die until 1974

Would records of his underage joining be held anywhere and if so where, as I can find no trace of him or his service record on Ancestry?

I have no idea of which regiment he was in but he lived in Shustoke, Warwickshire and the only other possible clue is a photo his family can remember seeing of him wearing a uniform with a kilt.

Any help with this would be really appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with bad handwriting please
« on: Saturday 03 May 14 09:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I wonder if anyone can hep with a number of handwriting issues within this 1891 kensington census page.
 1. What do the numbers after the occupation of Joseph, woodcutting machinest, mean?
 2. What on earth is the occupation of his son, William?
 3. I think that the surname of the nephew Harry is Kelly, it has been transcribed as Nellis, what do you think?

Many thanks for any help with this

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Are they the same person? COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 24 April 14 14:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Can anyone please help solve this problem.

From old handwritten family notes we have the children of William Thomas Hardy d.o.b 1876 and Elizabeth Ann Haines d.o.b 1882.
These include  Winifred 1906, Donald 1908 all born and living around the Paddington area to name a few and  a Freddie but with  no with more information.
From census searches we have a son William born 1900 in Paddington but cannot connect him to the other family records.

Could Freddie and William be one and the same person? I have searched for a William Frederick and Fredrick William with no success.
Thanks

Hi

I am trying to find out who are the parents of:

Caroline Venn d.o.b approx 1846 and her brother James Venn d.o.b  approx 1848/9 in the London area.

Caroline married Joseph Hardy in the Sept quarter of  1872 in Kensington and on the 1881 census James is living with them in Battersea.

They both put their place of birth as Chelsea.

Many thank for any help you can give me.
