Lancashire / George Henry Bailey
« on: Thursday 26 February 15 16:48 GMT (UK)  »
George Henry Bailey was born in 1861 in Manchester and died 1906.  I have found in a newspaper cutting that said "At Manchester Coroners Court, yesterday, the jury returned a verdict of "felo de-so" which I know is suicide, he poisoned himself using Carbolic Acid.  Is there anywhere I can get a copy of this report or find more information on this.

Thanks

Lancashire / Manchester Baptisms
« on: Wednesday 11 June 14 18:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone advise where I can find free (if possible) on line baptism records for the Manchester Area.  I have searched Ancestry and FamilySearch as I am looking for two missing babies born between 1896 and 1911.  I only found out there were 3 missing from the family when I found the 1911 Census and there were 9 children born alive but I only had 6.  I have since found another so only 2 missing now with the surname of Hewitt.  Parents James and Eliza

Any help in the right direction would be much appreciated

Thanks

Chrissy

Hi

Are there any other sites which are free to find Baptisms apart from familysearch?  I'm looking for 3 missing children that aren't on any census, but I know the parents names.

Lancashire / Hewitt - Missing Babies
« on: Sunday 09 February 14 22:17 GMT (UK)  »
My great grandparents James Hewitt (B: 1876) and Eliza Hewitt nee Finch (B: 1872) had 9 children.  I've found six of them Mary (1896), Elizabeth Ann (1899), Joseph (1903 - Grandfather), James (1906), John Henry (1908), Sarah Ellen (1911).  I think I've found another Alfred (1895) but I'm not 100% on this one.  Any ideas where I can find the missing two/three babies?

Lancashire / James & Eliza (nee Finch) & family - Manchester

Hi

The children of the above:

Marry Hewitt - 1896
Elizabeth Ann Hewitt - 1899
Joseph Hewitt - 1902/3 (Grandfather)
James Hewitt - 1906
John Henry Hewitt - 1908
Sarah Ellen Hewitt - 1911

On the 1911 Census it states there are 9 children only 6 living, but I am unable to find the other 3 children.  Can anyone advise where, if possible I would be able to find this information.  I have baptism details for all the children except my grandfather Joseph and John Henry.  I cannot find any birth detais for my grandfather.   He married a Margaret Langham. No-one has seen him since the 1960's, but there was rumour he moved down south.  That's the only information I have of my grandfather, so I have no death or further marriages.  Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have in the past used a website that has all free newspaper articles from way back, but cannot remember the details despite searching the internet.  ::)  You can actually read the full article at no cost.  Does anyone have details of this website please?

Lancashire / Joseph DONBAVAND
« on: Sunday 15 May 11 22:47 BST (UK)  »
My Ancester Joseph Donbavand B: 1859  in Manchester a son of Joseph Donbavand and Sarah Thompson is causing me no end of problems.

It looks like I may have been following the wrong line, does anyone have a marriage certificate of a Joseph Donbavand and Sarah Ellen Greenhalgh in 1880 in Manchester that I could see a copy of please?

I had no reason to believe that he wasn't "my Joseph" as ages and dates fit in perfectly.  Looking on An***try at the Public trees it appears his parents were John Donbavand and Sarah Carter.

Thanks

Lancashire / William Donbavand
« on: Monday 14 March 11 14:58 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me please? I am looking for the whereabouts of William and Eliza (nee Gatenby) Donbavand.

So far, I have the following details.

William born circa 1832 in Hulme Manchester
Eliza born 1836 Lancashire

William:

1841 living at Back Lloyd Street, Manchester (age 9)
1851 living at Todd Street, Manchester (aged 19)

He marries Eliza Gatenby in Manchester in 1856 (have Eliza's details for 1841 and 1851 but they are in a file at home)

They had three children

Ann Donbavand  1857 - 1860
Mary Donbavand 1859 - 1860
William Henry Donbavand  1861 - 1884

I am unable to find William, Eliza or William Henry on the 1861 or any Census after this.

A word of warning: I have found "Donbavand" spelt lots and lots of different ways!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Derbyshire / Marriage of Samuel Macfarlane
« on: Wednesday 09 March 11 15:49 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for more details on the marriage of my 3 x great grandfather Samual Macfarlane.  On 7 April 1833 he married Ann Elizabeth Leech in Ashover, Derbyshire.  Does anyone know if there are any websites where I can access this information or any idea where I can look up this parish record?

Any help in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Chrissy
