Good morning,

Is it possible to find out more information regarding  Bastardy orders. I ordered back in 2006 a printout for the Dawe family from Devon Family History Society . Part of it was a Index printout of Devon family history books. There is an entry for "William Dawe 22/11/1853 Mother Elizabeth Brock Putative father William Dawe of the Elder Division of Holdsworthy summon 22/11/1853 Petty Sessions on 15/12/1853 Result order made."
I would love to find out more information regarding William Dawe - his address aqe etc to see how he fits with my Dawe family.
Does the elder bit mean he has a son called William?
any help would be most appreciated

I have hit a brick wall re my Dawe family and would appreciate any help a fresh set of eyes could give.

I have a Richard and Mary Dawe born Tavistock? 1796 1800  respectively . I think I have them in the 1841 census living in Tavistock. Richard dies in 1848 Elbow lane Tavistock  informant Fanny Cocks who I think may be his sister ( found Francis Dawe marries Richard Cocks 1818) .

I next find Mary Dawe pauper in Elbow Lane Tavistock in the 1851 census. I cant find her in the 1861 or 1871 census. Mary dies 1878 informant daughter Eliza Jago living Fitzford Cottages Tavistock. I have searched the 1861 1871 census in Elbow Lane and altho William and Eliza Jago are there, there is no sign of Mary.

I would love to find Richard parents and know for certain his wifes surname . I hesitantly have it as Watkins. Would also like to know any siblings .
