Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Moses and Esther Palestrant in Leeds
« on: Friday 18 March 11 03:41 GMT (UK)  »
I have the census records for 1901 and 1911 for Moses and Esther Palestrant in Leeds.  I believe I have identified Esther's death in 1939 but have not been able to find a burial or  death index entry for Moses, and would appreciate help finding out when and where Moses passed away and was buried.  They were Jewish but I did not find a burial for either  when I searched the United Synagogue site.

Moses was a "Travelling Jeweller" born in Russian Poland about 1871.  I know he was widowed but still alive during World War II as my cousins stayed with him briefly at that time in Leeds.

Thank you  for any help you can give me.

Reference Library / SIT: Dropdown menu options
« on: Tuesday 04 May 10 19:09 BST (UK)  »
Are we to put country of origin before the UK, or just recent location here?  My British families came from Poland and Lithuania before England, and those countries are not in the dropdown menu.

I also noticed the list is not in alphabetical order, can that be fixed?  I thought Germany was not  there until I looked up  higher on the menu for  it.

Thanks

Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark / Channel Islands Births and Baptisms
« on: Tuesday 04 May 10 00:09 BST (UK)  »
The LDS has added  Channel Islands  births and baptisms from  1820 through 1907 to it's http://pilot.familysearch.org site.

  http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails&c=fs%3A1584983

I intend to add direct links to this database  to my guide to  free online birth and baptismal indexes and records,  but  have to decide whether to place the section on the  European or on the British Isles pages.

I understand the Channel Islands are more linked to the UK than the rest of Europe, but see  they seem to be geographically closer to France, and I have been organizing entries by geography.   Where would  forum members prefer to see the section?

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~thecohens/birthindexes.html

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~thecohens/birthindexes-bri.html

Once I add the section  on the Channel Islands, I will  add other links to free online birth resources for here as  they come to my attention, so please let me know if you know of others that should be included as free resources on the page.

Thanks!
