Ireland / Church records NLI
« on: Sunday 24 June 12 20:00 BST (UK)  »
I haven't been in the NLI for some time but I believe they have a new system for using documents where you have to order & wait for delivery at a specific time. Does this apply to microfiche also? Will be in Dublin tomorrow & thought, if I had a spare hour, I would pop in & view a microfiche but won't have time to wait for delivery an hour later. Can somebody shed light on how it works now? Also, is there any update on the digitisation process, t'would make life so easy.

Kilkenny / Kilkenny Border move?
« on: Thursday 11 November 10 22:11 GMT (UK)  »
I'm researching a Walsh family who farmed land of Earl of Bessborough at Garnarea House, Kilkenny in the 1800s & family lore has it that their house straddled the borders with Tipp & Waterford. I'm finding this hard to believe given the location of Garnarea in relation to the present borders. Does anyone know if the borders moved drastically in the 1890s reshuffle?

Australia / Richard O'CONNOR
« on: Tuesday 06 July 10 11:26 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone could help me locate info on Richard O'Connor/Connor born in Bantry, Co Cork in 1876. Parents were Michael O'Connor/Connor & Anne Leary.
It appears he went to Australia but I have no further information unfortunately  :(

One further piece of information, he was a carpenter by trade.
I have found a Richard O'Connor who immigrated to Brisbane in 1/8/1907 on the Miltiades. Any way of tracing this guy?

United States of America / GOGGIN Chautauqua, NY
« on: Wednesday 09 June 10 16:51 BST (UK)  »
Could somebody point me in the right direction please?
I'm looking for the death record of John Goggin (also recorded as Goggan/Goggins) who died in Chautauqua, New York in 1922.
He was married to Bridget Murtagh, who died before him. His father Thomas Goggin appears to have taken the family to the US from Ireland in 1870 & they settled in Buffalo area.
I'm hoping the death cert might confirm his mother's name & where in Ireland they came from.

Where can I get this record & how much info can I expect to get from it?
Are there any other records I could search to get info - have done all the census records.

United States of America / Kentucky marriage records 1900s
« on: Monday 19 April 10 21:59 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to marriage records for Kentucky other than those on An....try? I am trying to find if Pauline Mackin married either a Robert Rhea Corcoran in c.1924 or a Jeremiah Neville in c.1940. She was born in Louisville in 1901. She moved to Chicago & died in there in 1971. I can't find trace of her marriage to Jeremiah Neville in Chicago.

United States of America / Missing Chicago marriage
« on: Saturday 17 April 10 00:04 BST (UK)  »
My granduncle Jeremiah (Jerry) Neville lived for 26 years in Chicago having spent a number of years in Canada after he left Ireland in 1924. He married Pauline Mackin (or Corcoran - she may have been a widow) about 1940. Pauline was from Louisville, Kentucky. They had no family. I've searched the Cook County records & can't find a trace of the marriage record. Is there another source I could try?
