Ireland / Michael Monahan
« on: Thursday 29 April 10 02:48 BST (UK)  »
My grandfather-in-law, Michael Monahan, was born in Ireland in July 1861.  He emigrated to United States in 1879.  In 1885 he became a naturalized citizen.  He married "Mary" in 1887, who also had been born in Ireland in 1865 (I think her maiden name was Kelly, but am not sure) and emigrated either in 1868 or 1874.  In 1900 he lived on Nelson Street in Brooklyn, NY.  In 1910 he lived on Butler Avenue in Brooklyn, NY.  In 1920 he lived on St. Mark's Place  in Brooklyn, NY.  In 1939 he lived at 1139 E. 36th Street, Brooklyn, NY.  He and Mary had 7 children:  Mary born in 1888; Margaret born in 1893, Catherine born in 1896, Andrew born in 1899, Edward born in 1903,  Elizabeth, born in 1906, and my mother-in-law, Josephine born on July 30, 1907.  I am trying to find our where in Ireland they were born, and who their parents were.  I would appreciate any assistance.

« on: Thursday 10 September 09 23:12 BST (UK)  »
My great grandfather, John Tucker, was born about 1870 in Longford, Ireland.  He married for a second time on June 19, 1892 at Saint Patrick's Pro-Cathedral Catholic Church in Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A. - he was 22 years old so he emigrated before that).  His first marriage may have been in Ireland.  His father was Andrew Tucker and his mother was Ann Casey.  I would like any information on John and/or his parents.  Thanks for your help. :)

Caernarvonshire / Ann Evans - Carnarvon
« on: Wednesday 08 July 09 20:31 BST (UK)  »
Ann Evans, daughter of William and Jane Evans of Carnarvon, was christened at parish of Llanbeblig in Carnarvon on Feb 24, 1813.

William was a shoemaker, born about 1787 in Llanbeblig, Caernarvonshire, Wales, in the west ward of Caernarvon.  Jane (don't know her maiden name), his wife, was born about 1789 in Llangaffa, Anglesea, Wales.  Jane and William also had a son, Evan born about 1828 and a daughter, Jane born about 1831, and a daughter, Mary christened on February 19, 1817 in the parish of Llanbeblig.

Is there a way to get their birth records to see who William and Jane's parents were?

Ann Evans married John Williams, and had a daughter named Jane (after her mother) born around 1837, and another daughter, Elinor (Eleanor) born February 16, 1843 in Porthmadoc in the parish of Ynyscynhaiam.  She also had a son, John H. Evans born in 1850-1851 in Liverpool.  I went to Liverpool and to Caernarvon, but could not find a marriage certificate.  Most church records in Liverpool were missing before 1837.  How else could I find it?

Thanks.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / William & Jane Stewart - birkenhead 1890
« on: Monday 06 July 09 00:00 BST (UK)  »
William Stewart and Jane (Love) Stewart lived at 93 Wood Street in Birkenhead, Chedshire, England at the 1881 census.  They had 4 children, Edward, Rebecca, and James E. (all born in Abbey Scotland), and William born at this address in 1880.

Are any of them still listed on the 1891 census?  or the 1901 census?

Edward Love and Margaret Love (Janes siblings) lived with them in 1881.  Are they on the later censuses?

Any help would be appreciated.
