Lancashire / John SINGLETON accident in Ditton

Hi Everyone

I'm hoping someone out there can help me. My Nan used to say that one of our relatives was killed at work in a chemical accident at work in Ditton. I am trying to confirm or otherwise this by trying to find a newspaper article or inquest details but I dont know where to start.

The details I have are as follows:

John SINGLETON b. 1876 in Bold married Julia DONOVAN In 1896 in Runcorn, they had a little girl Maude in 1897.

In 1901 they were living in Widnes and he was a chemical labourer.

He died 16 Aug 1901.

Any help would be great

Lancashire / Warrington Cemetery - Plot Locations

Hello All

I have just found out the burial locations of several of my RYAN ancestors in Warringon Cemetery. These are:

Michael Ryan - Buried 11/09/1893 - age 62
Mary Ann Ryan - Buried 22/12/1917 - age 78
John Thomas Ryan (son) - Buried 16/07/1934 - age 65
Sarah Ann Dunn (daughter) - buried 14/01/1956 - age 85

The reference is RC SEC D 480.

Does this mean Roman Catholic Section D plot 480?

What I would like to know is if there is a cemetery "plan" online which shows whereabouts this plot is and would it be a public or private grave with headstone etc.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Rutland Lookup Requests / Baptism Look up request for Uppingham

Hi all

I'm hoping someone out there can help me.

My 4 x Gt Grandfather Joseph GOODMAN married Mary COBLEY in 1829 in Thorpe Malsor, Northamptonshire and had 13 children all born & baptised in Thorpe Malsor except my 3 x Gt Grandfather John GOODMAN. There is no record in Northamptonshire for a baptism so I am looking furhter afield!

From census returns it looks like he was born around 1830/31. His mother Mary states that she was born Uppingham, Rutland so I am hoping that if he was their first born Mary had him baptised where she once lived or her parents still lived.

I know I'm probably clutching at straws here but its soooo frustrating not being able to find any birth details.

Hi Rootschatters

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have recently discovered that my Gt Grandparents Harry George and Rosina Ann WRIGHT travelled from Liverpool, England on 26 Sept 1907 arriving in New York 6 Oct 1907. I have found the outward journey details aboard the passenger ship Cedric but I cannot find details of a return journey.

Their daughter Rosina May was born in Dec 1908 in Stansted, Essex, England and they were all in St Albans, Herts, England on the 1911 Census so they obviously came back before then.

Can anyone help me with a return journey to the UK?

Hertfordshire / Marriage Look-up Please

I am posting this request on Hertfordshire as well as Essex due to the fact that Berden is right on the border of the 2 counties. Its so close that James and Mary were married in Berden, Essex and had their first 2 children (I think they were their first!) 1 mile away in Stocking Pelham which is Hertfordshire!

I am hoping someone has access to parish registers as I need the following marriage details confirming please:

James WRIGHT to Mary Ann SALMON
Date: 17 November 1834
Location: St Nicholas Church, Berden, Saffron Walden, Essex

Also if there is any other details shown regarding parents, witnesses etc.

Any help would be fantastic.

Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Baptisms of WRIGHTS in Stocking Pelham

I wonder if anyone can help me with a look up?

I'm after any children to James WRIGHT (shoemaker) and his wife Mary Ann (nee SALMON) baptised in Stocking Pelham.

I have the following:

Joseph WRIGHT - baptised 3 April 1835 (IGI), died 17 June 1835 (Herts Burial Index)
William WRIGHT - baptised 12 June 1836 (IGI)

I then have 3 children born in Widdington, Essex in 1838, 1842, 1846.

Where there any more children born to them in Stocking Pelham before 1835 and between 1836 & 1838?

Is there anyone who can help me with this and also the name of the church in Stocking Pelham?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Essex / Street Names in Rickling

Hello everyone!

I'm a little confused or perhaps going about things the wrong way

I have addresses from census returns for my ancestors in Rickling (William and Eliza Wright and their 9 children who were all born in the village).

The problem I have is that I have googled the addresses and none of them show up. Is there a "Rickling local" out there that can tell me if road names have changed, disappeared etc?

1861 & 1871 - High Road - shoemaker
1881 - Main Road - shoemaker
1891 - Shoemakers Shop, Quendon Street
1901 - Quendon Street

My aim was to arrange a visit to the area to take photos of the streets etc but it would seem a pretty fruitless visit if none of the streets existed anymore!

Essex / Baptism Record WRIGHT Ricking, Essex

Is there any kind Rootschatter out there that has access to the baptism records for All Saints Church in Rickling?

I'm after confirmation that my Gt Grandfather was baptised there in Mar 1881.

His name was Harry George WRIGHT born in Rickling on 13 Feb 1881. His parents were William Wright and Eliza Dellow.
