Armed Forces / Royal Artillery

My ancestor was a a seargeant-major in the Royal Artillery, and drill instructor to the Manchester Artillery. I can not find any of his service records and neither can I find a record of his marriage. Please can anybody help me find something or at least point me in the right direction?
His name was James Sadler and he was born around 1856 but I haven't even been able to find his birth record. The name of his wife was Hannah Mary Ollier. All I know is that his death occurred in 1898 at Manchester Artillery Headquarters in Hyde-Road.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much

Roscommon / Dowds in Roscommon
« on: Thursday 12 September 13 18:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi there

I have the record of my great, great grandfather who was baptised in Fairymount Roman Catholic Church on 6th November 1858.

Hi name was Robert Dowd and his parents were called John Dowd and Margaret Hogg.

Roberts sister Mary was also baptised in the same church in 1857.

The family emigrated to Cheshire, England some time between 1858 and 1864.

I am desperate to hear from anybody from the same family or from anybody who can point me in the right direction to find the mariage record of John Dowd and Margaret Hogg in Ireland. Even if somebody can offer the slightest clue to their marriage or to where they lived would be amazing. I have really hit a brick wall with this and I am desperatly seeking some help.

Many thanks,

Adam.

Completed Census Requests / 7th Lancashire Artillery Volunteers
« on: Thursday 12 September 13 15:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Does anybody have any information on the 7th Lanchashire artillery volunteers.

My ancestor Mary Hannah Sadler (Ollier) had four children. I have found the baptism records for these children and the fathers name was James Sadler. His profession on the baptism records is shown as drill instructor and later sergeant for the 7th Lancs Artillary volunteers. Their address at the time was Hyde Road, Ardwick, Lancashire (near Manchester) and I am despearte to find out more about Mr James Sadler. Their last child was born in 1898 and by the 1901 census he must have died because on the 1901 census Mary is shown as a widow. So far all I have is his name on the baptism records. I do not know of his birth, marriage or his death date. Would anybody know if his service records would still exist or where I could obtain copies?

Any help on discovering more about James Sadler would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Adam.
