Meath / Patrick Cregan

Hi can anyone help me or steer me in the right direction. I've been trying to trace my great grandfather on and off for years. I have him in the 1901 census then I got his marriage cert ,he was married in navan in Jan 1892 he was 21 and his fathers name is john cregan. I've tried to go from there but I cant find a birth or baptism for him in meath.  I don't have his mothers name and I don't know where to get it as i thought it would be on the marriage cert. I'm a bit lost as to where to go from here to find him.

Louth / military barracks dundalk
« on: Sunday 26 August 12 17:35 BST (UK)  »
I've just found out that my grandfather and his sister were held in military custody in Dundalk barracks in 1922 and I would love to find out what exactly they were held for and when they got out but I dont know where to start. Would the Irish military have the records or will the english military have it or would the records still be kept in dundalk?

Meath / confirmation records
« on: Thursday 05 July 12 20:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi can anyone tell me if the primary school or parish priest would hold the confirmation records.  I've found my mams aunt she was born in 1913/14 and I know she went to the local primary school but there is no record of her after school.  My thinks she got sick around her confrimation and died but i cant find any death record in her local church.

Limerick / John Cregan and Catherine Cregan nee Connors
« on: Thursday 29 March 12 19:22 BST (UK)  »
Can anybody help me or point me in the right direct. Im from Meath but I've traced my Great Great grand parents to limerick. They got married in Newcastle on 5th March 1867 and as far as i can see had 2 children Catherine and 8th May 1869 and Patrick Cregan 6th April 1871. I have spent hours online looking to see if they had any more children and when the was coming up blank I started looking for there records ie their own births and their deaths both of which are coming up blank because the names are so common and I dont have ages I cant pick them out of the 1901 census if they are still alive by then. I am hoping to go to limerick hopefully with rough areas they lived in but Im stuck and would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks

Meath / Help! Can somebody point me in a direction
« on: Wednesday 14 March 12 19:14 GMT (UK)  »
I started researching my family history in the last few months my main source of info were the 1901 & 1911. Through these I  found my grandfather, great grand parents. I then went to look for my great great grand parents. From the 1901 census I could work out the rough birth date of my great grand father (Patrick) so i went to my local registrars office with the info and got the name of what i thought was his parents Christopher and Margaret Cregan/ heaney, the area and dates matched but While I was there I decide to get an original print out of my great grand fathers marriage cert and low and behold the name on the cert for his father was a john cregan not christopher. I have spent ages online and in the registrars office looking for this john cregan and I am drawing a blank. Can some point me in some sort of direction to go from here. Im a bit lost. Thanks

« on: Monday 06 February 12 15:21 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
This has been bothering me for a while but can anyone tell me whats the oldestest cemetery in Navan. The oldest grave in St. Marys that I could find is in the 1920's.  Where were they buried before this. I have traced my ancestors may 141 years in Navan and Im still looking so where were all these buried. I'm not expecting to find one of there grave stones but it would be nice to have an idea of where they are
