My uncle Leslie Victor Stanley was registered born at Horsforth, Yorkshire but I have found his birth recorded at the Charity Hospital at rue Jacob 47. Paris on 26th May 1897. May not have wanted it known about the hospital and father not named. Joined the wavy navy in WW2 as a dental surgeon and finished his service as Victualing Officer for the whole of the Middle East as two and a half stripes Commander a extremely high position. (I am told) Possible to confirm this?
Supposed to have married Erica Esme M. (don't know surname)  born 18th Jan 1925 Taunton died 1977. Cricket Malherbie Somerset. Possible confirm marriage?
Lot to ask.

Gloucestershire / GWR
« on: Thursday 16 February 12 00:28 GMT (UK)  »
I am writing in my Generation Book and notice customs that have died. 'They worked for GWR.'
Marraige.  William Webb. Great Western Railway employee, son of John Webb, Railway Inspector, GWR to Mary Jane Lapworth, daughter of Reuben Lapworth, hatter in Brislington Parish Church on 28th April 1902.
My elder brother Derek, remembers the lovely smell of the greenhouse in the back yard of  the house in Brislington on the approaches to Bristol while listening to Grandpa William.
"They were Railway Property houses on the edge of Bristol Marshalling Yards. The engine pushed the line of trucks to the top of the slope and then let them go slowly one at a time while the shunters rode the brake and switched them into lines to make the trains ready to move on. The sounds of the 'dink:donk:dang' all over this huge area in the middle of the night was quite majical. The yard was about twice the size of Stratford Yards, (where we used to live) which is now the site of the 2012 Olympics. Bristol Yard is no longer there. The Germans flattened it and their house after Gramps and Grandma had gone South."
Is it true. Is it all gone?  Are the Railways still there?  Are there still hatters in Bristol?
I need help with Reuben Lapworth who was born in Warwick, Francis Lapworth who was a stone mason and so was his brides Father, Joseph Gilks. Are there stone quarries in your areas? Any information to make the book interesting to soften the cold facts.

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Lacock. Wilts.
« on: Monday 13 February 12 04:02 GMT (UK)  »
William Webb was born in Lacock in 1779 and died there in 1859 at 80 years of age. He joined the 28th Foot for life in Cork and was discharged in Corfu Greece in 1823 as 'being worn out in the service.' and became a Chelsea-out-pensioner.
He and wife and daughter Amelia and son John are shown in the 1851 census, the children being the only survivors from 5 births. Cannot find out where they went too? Help please if you can.
Regards . Alan. Ft. Lauderdale. Florida.

Europe / Died in Antibes.

My wife, Marie France Mathilde Renee Georgette Rouchette, born 27 Aug 1942 St Etienne was held in Napsbury Mental Institution, near St Albans. Not being a sectioned patient, she walked out of the hospital in August 1987 and flew home to see her parents. She was rebuffed because of her previous troubles and I was informed after a fashion, by a solicitor, that she had gone to the beach and taken an overdose, leaving me with * and * and a business to run, and no Mother, who was loved.
I have never been able to find out where she is buried and would like to find out for her sons. The language is defeating me, also her parents if possible.

She may also go under the names of Banahan or Stanley. Death date given to the Probate Board was 25th August 1987.
