Sussex / HELP needed in BRIGHTON PLEASE
« on: Saturday 09 December 06 18:59 GMT (UK)  »
I am hoping one of you great people on this site can help me.

My Grand parents WILLIAM and LILIAN HYATT lived at
     8 ISLINGWORD ROAD BRIGHTON
It was a local shop. I'm wondering what is there now?
Also my Gran was a devout catholic and went to mass 3 times every day! I would like to find which church it was she went to. I remember it wasn't far from where they lived as she would take me with her when we went to visit for our hol's. She died in 1954 and I'm trying to locate the church and where she could be buried.
As I live in Toronto Canada I cannot go to Brighton myself to look for them.
Any help would be greatfully received.
             Thankyou in advance

US Lookup Requests / 1890 U S Census
« on: Monday 10 April 06 20:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi All you Great People,
I have just been given a letter written to my Gr Gr Grandparents, It came from  an  E. G. Walton,
       706 6th Avenue
         South Brooklyn,
            New York
It is dated 1889. He signed it from your "nephew". As we do not have that name in our tree we are wondering who he belongs to!

Would someone be able to check the 1890 census to see if he was still at that address and what other info' is there about him on it if he is there.

              Thank's in advance

The Lighter Side / Cougar's Visit to Toronto
« on: Thursday 22 September 05 04:10 BST (UK)  »
Just thought I'd let you all know, that we had a lovely visit, although a very short one, from Cougar and her husband Peter.
They are a great couple, it was just a shame we only had a few hours and the heaviest rainfall here in Toronto we've had in months!!
We hope they come back again soon and spend more time here.

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / "The Old Ship Inn" Tatsfield Surrey
« on: Saturday 20 August 05 17:02 BST (UK)  »
I have recently found out that my father was " landlord" of this pub. He got the license in Dec 1982. His name was   DENIS HYATT wife ROSEMARY. What I would love is.. Someone who maybe lives in Tatsfield that may remember him. I never saw him again after he and my mum went their separate ways. He passed in 1986 in Camberwell. I have spent over 40yrs trying to trace him. Any information on him good or bad will be welcome. Even an old photo' of him at the "SHIP"
Here's hoping someone can be of help.

Cheshire / Re: Cheshire Surname Research
« on: Thursday 17 March 05 16:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm hoping you can help in my search for my MULLANY/MULLANEY family. My gg grandmother was MARY MULLANY b.c1831 Macclesfield, she never married all tho' she had 5 children, one was WILLIAM MULLANY born Lord St, Sutton, Maccles'March/17/1859 he had an older sister Jane Ann c 1854. As Mary never married I have come to a complete standstill on her. She was a cotton weaver on 1871 census then became a "housekeeper" by 1881 still unmarried
If you can shed any light Mary I will be forever grateful.
                    Thankyou  Corbie

The Common Room / HELP NEEDED " FAMILY DILEMMA"
« on: Friday 25 February 05 17:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,
After 40yrs of searching we recently found our Father, only to discover he had remarried 15yrs before he was divorced from our mum!!
He passed away in 1985 and from his m'cert it seems likely they had no offspring, his "wife" was in her late 30's and a spinster. She is now in her late 70's and still alive.
       Our Dilemma is......
DO WE CONTACT HER OR NOT??
The family is really divided on this. Some of us think at her age we should leave well alone, others say we should get intouch as there maybe an estate that we're entitled to!
We're not talking about a man we never knew, as some of us were in our teens when he left and the youngest was 4yrs old.
If any of you can help us decide which way to go we would be grateful.
            Thank's Corbie in Canada  ??? ???
