US Lookup Requests / St Louis, MO, 1900 Census - DeHodiamont or Hodiamont Avenue
« on: Friday 08 February 13 11:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I am hoping that someone is familiar with the 1900 St Louis Census.  I am looking for an entry for 1451 Hodiamont Avenue but cannot find it.
I have checked the http://stevemorse.org site for the Enumeration District (409) and have gone though page by page.  Hodiamont is on there but I cannot find any addresses around 1451.
The link I have is to a Matt[hew] Keefe listed in the 1901 City Directory at "1451a Hodiamont Avenue. Occupation - Insp." I want to check the address on the closest dated census.

Does anyone have any information about DeHodiamont Avanue?

Regards

Kevin

Rutland Lookup Requests / Davis - South Luffenham and Morcott
« on: Tuesday 20 December 11 18:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Please would anyone be able to help with any lookups for the South Luffenham and Morcott parishes?

I am trying to locate records for:
Parents of Frank (Francis) Davis, b. Feb 1730 South Luffenham.  He married an "Anne" but I have no surname as yet and so a marriage records would be great.  They had at least one child Francis Davis b. 1775 Morcott (bapt. St Mary the Virgin, August).

Frank, I believe may have died 19 Mar 1775 and perhaps buried in Morcott.

I have a number of Rutland connection in my family to follow through so any pointers to online resources would be wonderful (I am up in Durham).

Kind regards

Kevin

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Lookup please: MARGARET BURKE 1843, NuL
« on: Monday 05 July 10 18:43 BST (UK)  »
Would it be possible if any one is able to lookup a birth in Newcastle under Lyme?

Margaret Bourke (1851 census, District 1a, Newcastle under Lyme, Church St.)
Listed as "Grand daughter" to Luke and Margaret Bourke. Age 8. Born Newcastle Staffs.

Luke, Margaret Snr, and Michael are all listed on the 1841 census also (spelled Bourke again) but no Patrick or Thomas.

In 1851 Luke and Margaret (Snr) also list Patrick, Michael and Thomas as sons. Ann Bourke is listed as daughter-in-law, being Anne McHowe I think....

Michael [Burke], and father Luke and mother Margaret are all listed later in census with Michael married to Anne (McHowe, m. 1850) so I know that this is the correct family and a variant on spelling of Burke.

It also means Ann and Michael were married several years after Margaret so I do not think she is their daughter.

I cannot find a birth entry for grand-daughter Margaret (1843) under any variant spelling of Burke.
Nor can I find a marriage of Ann to Patrick or Thomas (at least locally).  Similarly I have not found them definitively as a family group in later censuses.

I am making an assumption that Anne is Margaret's mother.

The closest I have is a possible marriage of Margaret Burke (b. 1843, father Patrick) to a George William Fletcher in 1877 in St. Mary Edge Hill Lancs. (no joy on 1861/71 census searches in this locale either). I will probably order the certificate but I don't think it will yield much helpful information.

Any help on birth of Margaret c.1843 or marriage of Anne to either Patrick or Thomas would be greatly appreciated. I have tried BOURKE, BURK, BERK, BIRK, BURKE even BOWRKE which was a transcript error) and many others!

Best regards

I would be very grateful if anyone is able to shed any light on Esther Ann Hunt (born c. 1836).

She is listed in the 1841 census, aged 5yrs, Regent Street, Loughborough with:
Thomas Hunt   50
Ann Hunt   55
Ann HuntJunr.   25
James Hunt   15

In the 1851 census she is still living in Regent Street Loughborough but listed as grand-daughter to Thomas and Ann (Snr.) with none of the other family present.

She later married Thomas Clarke in Loughborough 1856.  I have a copy of her marriage certificate but it does not name any father.  Her birth puts her just before any GRO records and so I am struggling to find her lineage; I can't identify her mother either - which son/daughter of Thomas and Ann (Snr) was her parent?

I suspect the younger Ann in the 1841 census was her mother and perhaps born out of wedlock although there is a mark on this census for Ann next to the ditto for "Hunt" which I cannot decipher but may be something like "law" and so this Anne may have been a daughter in law?

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Rutland / TAYLOR, WEST, DAVIS, FOX: Pilton and Morcott, Harringworth areas
« on: Monday 28 June 10 00:08 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for any help or pointers in confirming the following:

Rebecca Fox (b. c. 1788) in Harringworth.  Possible parents John Fox and Anne[??] (marriage confirmation of John and Anne would be ideal!).

Francis Davis (b. c. 1775, possibly Pilton. d. 1848 Pilton).  Possible parents Francis Davis and Ann [??].

Daughter of Rebecca and Francis is Sarah Davis (of full age in 1855 on her own marriage cert).

Sarah Davis married Richard Taylor.

Richard's parents are James Taylor and Elizabeth (m. possibly around 1830). Elizabeth's surname may be "West". I have an inferrence that James Taylor's own parents were again James Taylor and Mary "??", while Elizabeth, if her name were West, Thomas West and again another Elizabeth.

I am in Durham and believe that some records may have moved from the parished to the county records.  Is this worth risking a visit on the information I have? Obviously it is a distance.

Kevin

I am looking for any advice or help in trying to put some details together on my maternal ancestry.

Thomas Bernard Hunt b. 1858 in Loughborough was son of: James Hunt and Ada Spencer, living 1841 in hundred of West Goscote.

James Hunt was b. c.1825, d. 1881 Leicester.  marriage certificate to Ada , lists James' father as Thomas Hunt (woolstapler).

Ada Spencer (daughter of James Spencer a tailor) m. James Hunt January 1845, married in the Catholic Chapel, Loughborough in 1845.  I believe that Ada may have been born in Hathern (census records as birth-place)

I suspect Ada's mother to be Elizabeth (possibly Elizabeth "West")... 1841 Hathern Census lists James and Elizabeth Spencer with daughter "Deborah Spencer".  In the 1851 "Maria Spencer" is listed as wife's sister, living with James and Ada[h] Spencer. "Deborah Maria" Spencer was mother to George Edwin Cowlam and also listed on marriage certificate to Edwin Cowlam 1853 as "Deborah Maria Spencer", with correct paternal details, so this is almost certainly the correct family.

Ideally I am looking for some record of birth/christening or marriage references of James Hunt, Ada Spencer, Thomas Hunt James Spencer, but they are pre-General Records Office and being Catholic (certainly James and Ada marrying in the Catholic chapel and then Thomas Bernard and his wife Ellen Taylor later in 1875), I do not know what local records may exist.

Any pointers will be gratefully received!

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Lookup Rebecca Fox, Harringworth c.1788
« on: Tuesday 15 June 10 17:36 BST (UK)  »
I would be grateful if anyone is able to provide any further information on especially the parents via marriage or birth records of Francis Davis (Pilton, b. c.1775 Morcott) and Rebecca Fox (Harringworth, Northants, c. 1788). I believe they married in 1818.

After 1818 I think they lived in Morcott (birth of daughter) but then later, Pilton 1841, Wing 1851 (Rebecca), and then again Pilton 1861.

Many thanks.
