Kerry / Tralee Walsh's late early 1800's / early 1900's
« on: Wednesday 26 February 14 15:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, we're trying to trace a Walsh family, we have a marriage record for Thomas Walsh marrying in Killarney in 1907 but they then went and lived in Tralee, first child born in Dawson's Lane off Rock Street, second child born in 1909 in Brogue Lane, Tralee... They then moved to Killarney...
Thomas Walsh was born in Barraduff to a Hanora Sullivan and his father is listed as Thomas Walsh, Nora Sullivan was unmarried and remained unmarried but Thomas Jnr was meant to have known his fathers family in Tralee and apparently went to the US to him at one stage but we haven't been able to find any record as of yet that shows he did.... There are quite a lot of Walsh families in Tralee at that time and we're just hoping someone might know of a Thomas walsh who had a son Thomas Walsh who went on to live in Cork...

Kerry / Sullivan & Walsh Barraduff..

Does anyone have sullivans or walshes from Barraduff area...

I've a Thomas Walsh born June 1882, I have his baptism in Glenflesk church for 1882, his mother is Hanora Sullivan, Father Thomas Walsh, his parents weren't married, both Hanora and her son Thomas were living in Killarney in the 1901 Cenus, she's Sullivan and Single, he's Walsh and son of the head..

I sent off for a birth cert using both Walsh and Sullivan as Thomas's surname and the GRO rang me friday to confirm what I'm looking for, and it was registered in the Sullivan surname, place of birth Barraduff, killarney..

Both Hanora and her Son Thomas Walsh are buried in Killaha Cemetry..

Just wondering if anyone has a Hanora Sullivan in their tree..

I have found a possible family on Irish Genealogy, father John Sullivan, mother Margaret Connell, so I'm going to see if I can figure out if these are the family..

My aunt sent me a copy of a photo thats been in the family for a long time but no one knows who it is, it's only a photo of a photo, hope to get it scanned at some point...

Also if anyone has any info on the photographer, Monsieur Adam Sauvy, his studio was Paris Studio, 64 Patrick Street, Cork...

We'd like to know who generally at that time had photos taken...

Cork / Rose O Sullivan & Michael Flannery
« on: Monday 05 March 12 14:01 GMT (UK)  »
Rose O Sullivan would be a gran aunt of mine, she was born about 1918 or so rough guess based on others in the family, she married a Michael Flannery in what I think was 1942 based on Familysearch, i'm struggling with the O Sullivan side and i've seen a family tree on ancestry that I'm almost certain is for them, I've sent the owner a message but they haven't been on it in over a year so I don't hold out much hope of them seeing it, so I thought I'd post here just in case someone else has connections...

Tipperary / Marriage of William Lonergan & Mary Deady
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 17:31 GMT (UK)  »
I got the marriage cert for William Lonergan & Mary Deady today they were married on the 30th June 1900 in Tipperary,
William Lonergan's address at the time was Knockinrawley Tipperary, closest I could find is Knockenrawley. Occupation is Labourer
Mary Deady's address was Crogan Tipperary, occupation was Servant.

I do have both names as parents for my husbands grandfather but it's in Cork, so I'm trying to see if this is the right couple, it's the only match I could find on family searches website..

Ireland / Help me tie it all together...
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 10:55 GMT (UK)  »
I've a lot of info on one line of my husbands family and trying to tie it all together...

My Husbands grandmother was Mary Lonergan born Dec 1933 according to family but theres no record of her birth, I do suspect she may have been an "adopted" child, maybe from a family member but no idea yet, I do have one more church to check for a baptism record yet..

Mary Lonergans parents were Daniel Lonergan and Christina Murphy who married in april 1926, they had a son in Sept 1929 who died in Dec 1929 and after that I can't find any other possible children for them...

I've gotten Daniel Lonergans death cert, he died in 1958 aged 58 right address at time of death, so I ordered a birth cert based on that rough year of birth of 1900, it was for 1901 born in Bishopstown parents names William Lonergan & Mary Deady... This I'd be confident is them in the 1911 census because an uncle of my husbands has said that even though it was longeran that his mother used to spell it Lunerigan  http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Cork/Blackrock/Ballinure/401097/

That list siblings
Michael born about 1904 and I found this birth record for 1903 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBKT-Y31
Patrick born about 1905 I found this one for him https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBLW-GQ9
William born about 1908 I found this one  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FBPC-MZ3

According to the Census William Lonergan was born in Limerick and Mary Deady was born in Cork, I could only find one marriage match for them both and ordered the Marriage cert

Marriage Cert Details

Mary Deady, Crogan Co.Tipp occupation Servant, Crogan is to the north of Co.Tipp

William Lonergan, Knockinrawley Co.Tipp, closest match is Knockenrawley Co.tipp, occupation Labourer

The census says William Lonergan was an Agricultural Labourer...

This is the pattern of addresses

Daniel Lonergan born in Bishopstown1901, not sure where the other 3 were born yet, 1911 Census Ballinure Blackrock, 1926 Daniels address when he got married Ashgrove Cork, which is in Togher, his brother Michaeal also had the same address for his marriage in 1925, the only match for a death cert for William Lonergan I can find has an address of Westgrove Douglas cork in 1934, all of the above addresses are close enough and could be because Willliam Lonergan moved from farm to farm working, this is the part I wouldn't be sure of.

So while I have a lot of information I can't actually put some of it together, thought that someone else looking at it might see a different way of looking at it!! And of course this could be all for nothing if I can't find a baptism record for Mary Lonergan, I did find one birth record but it was for 1926 and her father was Daniels Brother....
