Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Lincoln Workhouse
« on: Sunday 13 November 11 15:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have recently discovered a Charlotte Bingley who died in October 1840 in the Lincoln Workhouse after choking on a piece of food. I'm not certain it is her as I don't know her age from the document I have.

I have found that there are 1839-1843 admissions papers as well as a burial register for the workhouse grounds. I would be grateful if anyone who has access to these records or indexes could provide any more information.

I believe Charlotte be my 5 x Gt Grandmother - her husband died 16 years earlier also in Lincoln whilst driving a Coach Box !

Lincolnshire / Newspaper Inquest Reports - Bingley
« on: Sunday 17 July 11 13:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

My 5 x Great Grandfather John Bingley was buried on 22nd February 1825 at St Benedict, Lincoln.

I knew he was a Coach Driver from his son's marriage certificate, however on the Burial entry, the Vicar has put a note:

Buried by Coroners Warrant having died on the Coach Box !

No inquest records for Lincoln exist this far back, so I wondered if anyone had access to any newspaper indexes or could recommend where to look ? I know there is the Stamford and Rutland Mercury - I can't find the index that used to be on the Council's Website ?

Regards,

Sam.

Suffolk / GOODRICHs from Elmswell
« on: Saturday 14 May 11 16:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I am looking for information about the Goodrich Family from Elmswell Suffolk, in particular Harriett Goodrich who was born around 1803 she was my 4 x Gt Grandmother, I haven't been able to find the parish records online so not sure of her parents names, all I know is her father was Farmer, on what scale I am unsure.

I have done searches and found other Goodrichs from Elmswell born around 1800 - 1810 so wonder if they are all connected ?

Any help much appreciated.

Regards.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Help with date
« on: Saturday 26 February 11 16:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I believe the photo below is my great grandfather - however I cannot be certain.

Help with dating would narrow it down greatly as he was the youngest son of the family i.e father about 50 when he was born, the same situation for his wife parents - if I can rule out that it is them then I can be fairly certain it is him.

An age of the person in the photo would be useful too.

This image is stuck on the back of the other photo - just a head - i believe this could be his wife - there was a 10 year age gap and I think the photos were taken around the same looking at the curtain - the scribble seems to imply the photos are copy ? which mean they might look older than they are ?

Finally this photo is possible the mother of the lady in the photo above, a date and estimated ages of the person in this would be great too  :)

Look forward to your comments.

Ireland / Census Searches for Early Pensions
« on: Sunday 21 November 10 13:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have recently come across this source :

Census search forms for the 1841-1851 censuses of Ireland

https://beta.familysearch.org/s/catalog/show?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fcatalog.familysearch.org%3A8080%2Fwww-catalogapi-webservice%2Fitem%2F1039474&hash=HloWXpZgU9zB10k5M56iYku8TUc%253D

I know that this website www.pensear.org seems to have some coverage but am unaware if it is a full index ? as the ancestors I have looked for are not there, although on 1911 census they state they are OAP's ?

It would be great if anyone could advise a little further what these records are like ?

Thanks.

Limerick / Kenn(e)y Mungret
« on: Saturday 19 June 10 11:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have discovered a possible relation in the form of my 2x Gt Grandfather and 3x Gt Grandfather:

1901:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Limerick/Ballycummin/Castlemungret/1495311/

1911:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Limerick/Ballycummin/Castlemungret/624013/

Any info on this family or where I should look next for more info would be great, I am visiting Ireland again in August.

Also can Mungret registers be accessed in person in the archives ? or do you have to contact the parish ?

Regards.
