According to Lewis Lloyd in his book about the The Maritime Community of Abermaw/Barmouth, there's a memorial in Llanenddwyn Churchyard, Dyffryn Ardudwy, which refers to the above: Lost on his voyage from Ireland to Liverpool in 1824, aged 65. I would be grateful if anyone who has the GFHS  MIs booklet could post the full inscription here.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / DNA TEST
« on: Saturday 29 November 14 21:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Two friends of mine, 'A' & 'B', reckon they are both related to 'X' (deceased).
'A' reckons that his late father, was the illegitimate son of 'X', who was also illegitimate. 'A' knows 'Y', a grand, or great grandson of 'X', who is prepared to take a DNA test to establish the truth, or otherwise, of this.
'B' claims that there is strong evidence that his grandfather was 'X' s father.
Both 'A' and 'B' are keen to take DNA tests, but are concerned about the cost. They have asked me to enquire on their behalf, the cost and certainty of the result.
I don't know at the moment, but will enquire , whether  'Y' is descended thro' the male or female line, or mixed.

Durham / Henry(Harry) Owen Jones, Mechanical Engineer,b. Porthmadog c. 1886.
« on: Tuesday 19 August 14 12:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I'm trying to trace descendants  of a Henry(Harry) Owen Jones, born Porthmadog (various other spellings, Portmadoc, Port Madoc, Port Maddocks), parish of Ynyscynhaiarn, c. 1886.
Henry had a leg amputated when 15, worked/trained at a local foundry, and became a graduate of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in 1907. During the war he worked in a munitions factory in London, and in 1919 was appointed to a senior post in a large chemical factory on Teesside.
Main reason for seeking info, is that I'm looking for descendants of his brother Llewelyn/Llewellyn Jones, in connection with an Australian WW1 project. Llewelyn, and his brother Robert Owen Jones, served with the Australian Imperial Force (AIF).
Further information on the family are contained in the following two topics:
“Re: Family History/Local History Group for Porthmadog??” by 'laren', on “Wales (Counties as in 1851-1901) >>Wales – General >> Caernarvonshire”;
and
“Maggie Lewis(nee Jones)/Christiana Jones, Dolgellau/Tywyn, formerly Porthmadog” by 'EmyrBorth, on  “Wales (Counties as in 1851-1901) >> Wales – General >> Merionethshire”.

Hi
This topic is connected to Caernarvonshire,  “Family History/Local History Group for Porthmadog??” started by “laren”.
Robert and Margaret Jones, of The Slateworks, Porthmadog, had 3 daughters, Elizabeth(Lizzie), Margaret (Maggie) and Christiana. Elizabeth Dowdney(nee Jones) died 1915 in London, aged 35. The other 2 were appointed to posts in Merionethshire and probably moved to live there.
Christiana b. 1888, was appointed “assistant mistress” at the Church School, Tywyn, in1910. In 1911 Census, she is a 'Boarder'  at 1 Idris Villas, Towyn, with Richard Lewis and family.
Maggie b. 1881/2 was appointed  Merioneth Education Committee Nurse c.1914, and married D J Lewis, Parliament House, Dolgellau; wedding at Oakfield Road Wesleyan Chapel, Liverpool, in 1916. Best man was Richard Barnett, Secretary of Education for Merionethshire. In 1919 couple were living in Dolgellau.
I'm looking for info that would help me trace descendants that could help in tracing descendants of their brother, Llewelyn Jones.
