Family History Beginners Board / Searching for JAMES HALE, Royston
« on: Tuesday 28 December 10 17:03 GMT (UK) »
I have been reasonably successful in researching our family trees but have come unstuck big time on my husbands family. I registered with Ancestry.co.uk some time ago and ended up going down a wrong route via someone else's tree which resulted in me tugging my forelock and walking backwards when we thought OH was related to the Plantagenets!! I now think that this is highly unlikely but cannot find any records anywhere for the following:
James Hale b 1806 Royston, Herts
married to Emma Wolsey b 1807 Middlesex
Son Isaac Hale b 1839 Highgate (married to Elizabeth Nichols)
We know that James and Emma are now correct (had the wrong Emma the first time round) because I have a copy of Isaac's birth certificate. However, although Emma appears on records and I can trace her family back, I cannot find James. He has been listed in the past as Jas Hall and I have tried all variations.
Can anyone suggest any other line of enquiry?
Many thanks.
