Dorset / Henry S. Minchinton - DEATH?
« on: Sunday 04 July 10 19:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anyone help me find a death record for Henry S. Minchinton, born Stalbridge 1827? I think he died c. 1870.

There is no entry for him on the Free BMD site and he is not buried in Stalbridge.

Complications : Variant spelling 'MinchinGton'
Also, there is another Henry Minchington born c. 1823 nr. Yeovil in Somerset. He died in 1869 aged 46 in Yeovil District. This is not 'my' Henry!

Hopefully I'm missing something obvious??

Any help/ advice greatly appreciated.

Dorset / Re: Bugg family from Stourton Caundle

Hi,
Frederick Bugg, born c. 1835 in Stalbridge married Ann Michinton, daughter of my ancestors Robert and Joanna Minchinton.

In the 1871 census they are all living in Church Farm, Purse Caundle.

I can't find Frederick's parents from the David Jeanes Transcriptions for Stalbridge, but there are a number of entries for other 'Bugg's. If you think you may have Stalbridge connections and would like anything specific looked up, I would be happy to check the transcriptions.

Monmouthshire / Rhoswen Mine, Argoed
« on: Sunday 04 July 10 16:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

My ancestor Lewis Price was the owner of Rhoswen Mine, Argoed.
I have been able to find out (from welshcoalmines.co.uk) that it closed in 1917 and in 1918 was known as Rhoswen Level and was abandoned.
I would love to know more about it ... perhaps even find a photograph... but no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions for possible sources of information about the mine?
Thank you for any help!

Northumberland / Shakespeare Tavern, Byker
« on: Sunday 04 July 10 15:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
In 1901, my ancestor Jane Elizabeth Craven was running the Shakespeare Tavern, Ropery Walk, Byker with her husband, William.
I would love to know something about the tavern - but my searches have always drawn a blank.
Are there any Byker local historians out there who could help? I would be extremely grateful for any information.
Thank you
