Thanks for that, I think I got a little confused. I found the Edward Smith and then backtracked him to the one living in Tucker St. Bristol.... oddly enough same father's name, William and even more oddly, the guy in Bristol was an Edwin in one census and became an Edward in the next. However I think this was a mistake, because the info you have for 1851 and 1861 showing born Paulton, with family born thereabouts in Chewton and farrington Gurny looks much better. I think the part about moving to Yorkshire with his brother and both marrying two sisters makes it even more certain. Do you by any chance have anything on the marriage of Edward's parents, there was a mention of a William being 72 in 1851, could this have been Edward's G/father?, and one last thing, can you tell me which parish Paulton, Chewton and Farrington are in please?
