Hi Paula,
Don't think this is my Richard, according to the 1871/81 censuses my Richard was born abt 1833, the Richard you found was b. abt 1836. I have always found that although people lied on censuses, when you have 2-3 that all give the same age to go by that date.
I had a reply to an earlier posting with the info of a Richard Humphrey bapt 12.8.1832 St Nicholas, Brighton, parents William and Elizabeth (FHL Film No 1067108), this seems a more likely bet for his birth year. Were there any William and Elizabeths on the 1851 census?
Anyway, thanks for your time and help.
