Carmarthenshire Lookup Requests / David Morgan 13 Hall St Llanelli 1871 & earlier
« on: Monday 29 August 05 09:04 BST (UK)  »
Dear All

I'm checking on David Morgan and family of 13 Hall St Llanelli.  The 1871 and 1861 Censuses  1871 & earlier give his occupation as "Portress?" ??? of Borough of Llanelly - can someone read the text and tell me whether this is porter, postman, or postmaster, or some other civic post in Victorian Llanelli ?   (John Bevan Morgan his son was later architect to the Carmarthenshire Schoool Board).

If anyone can find records for the family in 1851 & 1841 I'd also be delighted to know what they say.

Thanks for your help.

Dear All

Alas, the closing time at the Records Office cut me off, in my prime.  :'( Since I'm unlikely to get back there soon, could somebody help me with the following

1851 Bristol Census - Lydia Flook and family - St Phillip & Jacob without PH 1954 01E 05.

Thanks for your help. :)

Dear all

I'd be grateful if someone can give me the text for the family entry for Mary Brain and family (Vowles or Rowles/Pye) at 132 Regent Street Bedminster in 1851 BJ 1945 01R p 27.

As you can see I've got part of the record, buy a fairly poor copy. :'(

Many thanks

Simon :)

Folks ???

I'm trying to track down William Sandall, Bricklayer, of Norfolk, father of Elizabeth Mingay Sandall (born c 1836, Reep(?)ham or Reefham Norfolk) and Sarah Mingay Sandall.  Mingay may well be the maiden name of his wife.  His name and occupation come from an 1861 marriage certificate.

I've found a widowed William Sandall, Bricklayer, 58, born in Woodling, with his daughter Amelia M at 19 Paragon St, Heigham Norfolk in the 1861 Census.

There may also be a Sandall or Mingay (Elizabeth's Uncle) who is the postmaster in Reepham or one of the surrounding towns villages.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Simon ;)

Many thanks, I'm sure the various Victorian Bristol Brains were related.

Thanks again.
