I think the break might have 'cured' me! I didn't bother with any of the repeats, has it started up again in lockdown?

Norfolk / Re: Levi Chambers marriage

Welcome to RootsChat.

It is an elusive marriage.

John Chambers is recorded as being born 23-1-1862 and was christened 23-2-1862 in Lyng/Ling in Norfolk.

There was a Thomas Chambers (a Carpenter) christening his chlldren in Lyng/Ling from 1853 to 1861.

There are extensive pictures of Norfolk registers available through Family Search

OK - a long shot: Blake and the 'horses' will turn out to be scalliwags and Gavin has taken on the responsibility of reforming them into useful and productive citizens, so he feels the need to shield them from people who might blame them for the things they do.
I'm having trouble with the too obvious representation of him as a stereotypical conniving Welshman.

Google might give you some clues - a character  in a 1904 book for instance.

I thought the 1773 marriage might have been a clue to the death of his first wife.

Sorry Westy, unable to find anything on Lucy Bowen, but I did come across a marriage bond for William Smith of St Mary, Haverfordwest to Anne Williams sp of St Thomas, Haverfordwest 16-9-1773.

Have you followed up the Ancestry record of their marriage and children? (I don't have access to Ancestry and the google link came back as 'page no longer available').
Keep safe.
