Berkshire / A school in Reading 1850s
« on: Sunday 03 May 15 19:44 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

My GG Grandmother Clara Dodd 1830-1907 Bucklebury Berks, was a house servant to the school master at an address which I think is Russell Terrace in Reading.  There are 23 boarders aged 9-14. Does anyone know whether there was a school here in 1851 please?

Thanks very  much

Hello JJen,
Thank you very much for the link for my family in Canada.

It would be fascinating to know why/how they ended up moving all the way to Canada!

Hello,

I am researching Sarah Dodd 1828-1910 Bradfield, Berkshire.  She married George Patey and they moved to Lincoln, Ontario where she died.  I wonder if she can be found after 1871 where she was still in England.

Any information would be great, thank you  :)

Thank you CaroleW, I need to research further Charlotte's family to find the witness referred to, to see if she has someone of those names and thank you ribbo39, maybe that was a family member of Charlotte's, I havent  got very far with her ancestors as yet!

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Millson/Bedding Marriage 1824
« on: Saturday 14 March 15 19:12 GMT (UK)  »
hi there,

My couple are both from Bucklebury, Berks, Joseph Millson b 1/12/1802 and Charlotte Bedding b 13/8/1809.

I am trying to find their marriage and find only 11/7/1824 in Southwark.  I know there could be any  number of reasons as to why they were born in Bucklebury, lived their lives and died in Bucklebury but married in Southwark, but it just seemed a little strange to me.  I looked at parents and they didnt have any children born in Southwark around that time to suggest that they moved away and returned again.  I just wondered if anyone knew of other ways to find a marriage please.

Thanks
