Don't know if this will work but it was taken in the 40s, the old pub is in front and the Bat and Ball has been built behind it before the old one was demolished

It was the Old Elm originally then became the Bat and Ball in the 30s I believe, a year ago it was sold and has reverted to the name of The Old Elm. Elm Cottage was next to, and may even have been part of, the Blacksmith's forge on the corner of Blacksmiths Lane. That building is Forge Cottage. I'll have word with the chap who lives there and find out as much as I can about its history.

We live in Church View, Churchdown which is a recent building, our neighbour lives in Elm Cottage which is 17th or 18thC. The Old Elm Inn is just round the corner from us and I'm sure there are photos of it as it was originally. If the original poster is still interested I can try to find them and also take a photo of the cottage.

I've just seen your name on GR! I nearly sent you a message asking for information about John Wing !! My father was Reginald Wing, his father was William Francis Wing born 1877 who married Leah Widdows from Churchill. If you're on GR you can view my tree. You've probably already contacted all the people I've just sent messages to. We live about 40 minutes drive away from North Moreton and we've been there a couple of times. It's very pretty, lots of thatched cottages. If I can work out how to do it I'll post some photos of the village.

I'm sending messages to all the tree matches I've got on Genes Reunited. I found him in one tree but only the information you already have, living at 17 Juniper Hill,Great Marlow. Isn't it strange that there's no birth record? Have you been to North Moreton ? If I find out any thing I'll let you know.

My father's family are Wings and they all came from North Moreton. I have Johns born in 1745,1776,1836 and a Jonathan in 1807. There must be a link, surely ? I'll check my full tree and get back to you.

Liz :)
