Hi Liz,
Now you have told me, it seems quite plain ;D
I wonder whose wife Mrs Beecroft was?

Thank you Suz and avm for trying to help! I've been going through the various censuses trying to find where Jane VERITY (Benjamin's mother) was born (it looks to me like it was in Fountains Earth as it shows in the 1841 census) but in the 1851 census it says Gaivethorpe (could be Grewelthorpe), in the 1861 census it says Masham, in the 1871 census it says Grewelthorpe, in the 1881 census it says Pateley Bridge, in the 1891 census it looks like Kirby, and in the 1901 census it says Grewelthorpe again!
It's all a mystery ???
Keith

PS.
There seems to be quite a few Michael JOY's marrying Janes in the Pateley Bridge/ Greenhow Hill area. It make trying to find the ones I want, very difficult!!

I've been trying for ages to find the Birth or Baptism date for Benjamin JOY. All I can find is the entry in the registers for FreeBMD and the 1851 census. Is it possible his parents didn't bother to baptize him, or am I missing something?
Please help!!

Just stumbled across this entry in the Bishop's Transcripts for Pateley Bridge in Yorkshire.
It's the middle two lines.

Thanks David for those links. I have in the past looked at the Calverley website, but must have missed the info there.
Thanks again,

Thank you Arthur, David, Chempat and Calverley Lad,
I managed to find that Bewerley wasn't part of the Pateley Bridge district, but hadn't been able to find it in Dacre, not surprisingly!
Does anyone know if it is just mislaid, or is totally missing i.e. destroyed?

Can anyone tell me if I can find a map showing where Bewerley, close to Pateley Bridge is in the 1841 census. I'm trying to find John DUNN and his wife Thomasin, and so far can't find anything. I thought I could possibly trawl through the 1841 census, but can't find Bewerley. I don't know which District/subdistrict it comes under. All help gratefully received!
