Hello,
I, too, would be interested in accessing the  A L Humphries book on Bucklebury online. A URL would be useful.  I am always seeing references to the book, but have never come across a copy, either online or physically.

 Hello,
No, unless you have definite evidence to the contrary, John Wilkins marriage was as Carole W. says. In 1847. You will need to get the marriage cert to find the actual date etc.
He married Mary Woodward (a couple of variations) and she was dau of William and Dianah. Dianah died in 1841, but was alive on census night.

There is a fair bit about John Hatter Wilkins and his family, and parents, etc on the net, including burials on Find a Grave  http://www.findagrave.com
His brother, Charles 1827-1896 was the first sexton of the South Cottonwood Cemetery - later named Murray City Cemetery - and a prominent member of the Mormon Church.

John is buried 1905 in Rose Hill Cemetery  Idaho Falls Bonneville County Idaho, USA

I know a little about the family only because mother Jane Rixon was related to the Paulins of Bucklebury, who in turn were eventually linked with my Sellwoods.

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Re: Seeking Sedenary information
« on: Monday 12 August 13 10:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
In 1911 Sydney Sedunary  was in the Temperance Hotel in Oxford St, Southampton and was a ships steward. From my research his real namewas Samuel Francis Sedunary.
Encyclopedia Titanica has a full history.
http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/titanic-victim/sidney-francis-sedunary.html

His father was Thomas Theodore Sedunary (1861-1900) and mother Sarah Radbourn/e who Thomas married in 1882
The 1891 and 1901 show Samuel/Sidney at home in Newbury with 3 siblings.
Widowed Samuel Sedunary b 1833 is with them in 1891. Thomas looks to be Samuel's son from the 1881 and 1871, so yes, you seem to be right. That is the link.
The 1841/1851  have Joseph and Ann with both Samuel and Jane as children. 1861/71/81 has Samuel married to Elizabeth of Caversham
Familysearch has Samuel  bap 1830 as son of Joseph and Sarah, and Jane bap 1843 as dau of Joseph and Ann.
Berks fhs Marriage Index has Joseph marrying Sarah Chitty in 1827 and to Ann Mattingly in 1837. (Also has Thomas Theodore marriage to Sarah Radbourne)
Berks fhs Burial Index has Sarah's probable burial in Hurst in 1836 aged 42, Samuel, in Speen in 1892, and one for Ann Sedunary age 38 of Friar Street Reading in 1853. In 1851 Joseph and Ann were living in Friar Street and Ann was aged 37, so this looks to be her.
A Joseph Edward Sedunary married Mary Ann Hall in Camberwell Reg Dist in 1853, so this must be his third wife. You will need the marriage cert to be sure of the right Joseph.
I hope this helps clarify. I am not a relation. Just interested in the families of those on the Titanic. I have handled Sidney's watch when  I worked for the Maritime Museum, Southampton. I can send you all the censuses by private mail if you don't have them.

Hello Lee,
Since originally starting this thread, I have done a fair bit of research on the Whileman's of Clay Cross and places elsewhere.
I am sure we can collaborate to our mutual benefit, although I haven't done much on the Whileman's for the last year.

If you can send me a private mail, I will give you my email address and we can go from there. I suspect from national registrations that I may already have you speculatively on my tree.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards

Thanks Alan,
The two marriages are on familysearch but a parish register confirmation is good. The baptism of Henry fills in another gap. Thanks.

Sorry, yes, I misled. I should have said that Ellen and her two sisters seem to have been the only children of Richard Jones and Elizabeth Palmer/Bond.

In 1891 sister Sarah could be the Sarah Ann in service at Wilminster Park, Remenham. employer Elizabeth Ames.

Registration District: Henley
This looks to be her birth.

Births Sep 1874 Jones  Sarah Ann    Henley  3a 563

In 1891 Martha is still at home with her mother and stepbrother, Thomas Bond.

Births Dec 1876 JONES  Martha     Henley  3a 616

As Jones is such a common name, even in England,  you will need to get certificates as proofs and be very careful not to mix families up.
Glad to be of help.

Hello Alan,
That is brilliant. Thank you.  I am now wondering if Henry was maybe son of Elizabeth before she married John Greenough. His age on the censuses from 1851 is 1821-1824, so with that marriage  it is possible he was born Henry Prior. Either whichway, my original question has now been answered and I thank you.

Hello Ribbo and Keyboard,
Well, Well, Well. I already had him, but he was called William in the 1851 and 1861 census, as you said, Keyboard. Like a fool, I had not thought that he would have used his second name up until 1871.  John William's mother was Eliza Ann Butler, yes, from a family which weaves in and out of the Greenoughs.
Henry Greenough's parents were John Greenough 1796-1855 and Elizabeth Prior 1802-1888 I was told by a Greenough researcher a long time ago. Henry was the eldest b abt 1822 and had 9 siblings that I have followed. In 1841 Henry is with George and Elizabeth Butler and son? Isaac Butler. After his father's death, his mother married again.
I don't have a marriage for John and Elizabeth Greenough or a baptism for Henry, so at the moment I have taken what I have been told and what is on the Upton village site, as nothing seems to contradict it.
If you can find a baptism for Henry that will also help me tidy that part of my cousin's tree for her.
Thank you so much for looking this up and for your help.

Hello Keyboard,
That looks very promising. I had seen Jane Pryor/Prior in 1851 and noted that she was about the right age and birthplace.
John was certainly John William and his and Jane's first child was born in Bucklebury, so I will look up those references and see where they take me.
This surname is something of a pain in the 19th century. It is my first cousin's.  Thanks for helping.
