Thanks for the eventual replies.  I got caught up with life and did not notice them till now.  I as wondering about the family because Kinkeads, Limericks and Cowans of the Ballykelly area were intermarried.  Always looking for potential links to my Kincaids from Londonderry that settled near Springfield parish (adjacent Studholm parish) in Kings county, NB.

For information on the Cowan connections I'm interested in the Ballykelly area one can refer to my research notes at https://kyncades.org/Bally.pdf on my kyncades.org website.

Hi Lyn.  Nice to see you still slogging away at this.  Dad has more dna in common with Livy than you, so it caught me off guard.  Could be a random thing or perhaps some was added from her dad's line.  Was her father's line also from Bonds Glen?

My dad (WB3708469) has ibd segments in common with all the Gedmatch kits given here, but all but one are likely background noise from being from the same area.  However, 'They Search for us' your cousin Livy is of real interest to me.  I have several ibd segments and a couple of respectable segments (9.5 cM and 6.5cM) which is quite good considering my family has been in eastern Canada for the past 200 years.

Can you tell me more about Livy's ancestry?  Who in Bondsglen area does she descend from.  Which line of hers would be different from yours to account for the nice size segments in common?

Donegal / Re: WRIGHT FAMILY CREEVE DONEGAL

I was checking out Wrights in Donegal and came across this thread.  I am not sure if the person got his answers, but I thought it worthwhile to note here that Keith Wright of the Monreagh Heritage Center is of the Creeve Wrights.  He does genealogy research.  A couple of related Youtube videos are as follows:

The first relates to the old Wright homestead and the second is a video by Keith on genealogy tips.

Cork / Cummins of Creagh Parish
« on: Thursday 08 March 18 22:15 GMT (UK)  »
I am wondering if anyone has done any research on the Cummins of Creagh parish, County Cork.  The 1831 Tithe records have a John, William and Michael Cummins holding land in Creagh townland, Creagh parish.

I am suspicious that they are the family of my ggg grandfather Michael Cummins (born c1800) who came to Kings County, New Brunswick, Canada from County Cork in 1819.  John, William and Michael are strong names in our Cummins family.

My Michael Cummins married here in 1824 and had the following known children: David (c1825- 7 Jan 1900 m. Mary Ryan), John (c1827 - 1904 m. Catherine McCrossan), Ann (4 Apr 1830 - 23 Jul 1917 m. John Hourihan), Hugh (c1832 - 1921 m. Margaret Dean), Eliza (c1835 - ? m. Cornelius O'Leary), Michael (c1836 - 31 Mar 1924 m. Mary McGinn), and Mary (c1838 - Nov 1876 m. William Carney).  Treat these dates of death with caution as some come from unsourced family notes.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks again Gotinsnima.  I knew of the Kinkead-Rankin marriage but the McIlwaine-Rankin connections is interesting.  Good point about the records not capturing earlier kids.  Perhaps he was only married twice.

I see from Bill Macafee's site that there were two McIlwaine families in Raphoe barony in the 1663 Hearth Money rolls.  One was in Taughboyne parish where there were Kincaids.  They were in Altaskin townland which later featured the Rankins.  The other was actually an Andrew McIlvaine living on Lough Swilly next to Ballybegley where there was a Kincaid family in the 1730s.

A tantalizing set of family linkages.

Thanks Gortinanima!

I like to check here before running off and doing a lot of research as someone might have already done so.  No need to plough someone else's field so to speak.  I got little feed back to I assume not much has been done on this family.

Your baptism entries points to something I found in the Registry of Deeds records which suggest Katherine was a second wife.  A memorial dated 14 September 1739 records a lease of 3 lives of which one was Henry Makiliwaine, 7th son of Andrew Makiliwaine of Londonderry, barrack master [Ireland.  Registry of Deeds.  Vol. 100, p. 469, no. 71273].  If the same person, then he had 4 sons by a previous wife.

Andrew seems to have married a 3rd time.  This time to Lucy Noble of Derrygree, County Fermanagh.  His marriage articles with her are recorded 27 September 1746 and in it her refers to a Lease granted to him of a tenement on Bishop's Street where he lives which was for his life and the lives of his sons John and Henry [Ireland.  Registry of Deeds.  Vol. 123, p. 489, no. 84619].

McIlwaine/McElwain/etc. does not seem to be common about Londonderry.  Were there other baptisms in St. Columb's records?  This is something I do not have access to.

My interest in the McIlwaines is because there is a 1734 marriage licence bond made for the marriage of John Kinkead and Elizabeth McIlwaine [Index to Raphoe Marriage Licence Bonds, 1710-1755 and 1817-1830.  Transcribed by Rosemary ffolliott.  Dublin: The Irish Ancestor, 1969.  Published as a free supplement to The Irish Ancestor. 8].

Andrew's 1746 marriage to Lucy Noble is interesting, because in 1732 there was a John Kinkead of Aghansillagh, Drumachose Parish married to a Jane Noble who I can find no further trace of.  Perhaps he is the same person as the John Kinkead who married Elizabeth McIlwaine in 1734.

Regardless, I sure appreciate any information that helps sort out the McIlwaines about Londonderry City in the early 1700s.  I can and will continue to search the Registry of Deeds and Derry Corporation records.  Outside of that, tidbits are appreciated!
